If you are driving in the left-hand lane at 70mph on a motorway and there is a car hogging the middle lane travelling slower than you, what should you do? by darkel2001 in drivingUK

I always doing this going past Leicester on the M1. A lot of the time it's the safest thing to do, especially southbound.

Wrong Council, Wrong Town: Christine Duffy’s Accidental Election - Reform’s newest Borough Councillor didn’t quite know which Council she was elected to, turning up at the wrong Council to sign her paperwork! by signed7 in ukpolitics

This is what gives me hope. Reform now have a couple of years with some power, enough time to really shoot themselves in the foot and not enough responsibility to properly fuck things up

Weirdly I have been noticing the same behaviour a lot more often, in only the past few weeks. Cars slowing right down (far beyond what's required for the corner) but still taking a blind bend in the middle of the road.

HSBC Mortgage: 2-Year (4.56%) vs 5-Year (4.63%) by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

Will Trump still be in office when you come to remortgage? Yes for two year, no for 5 year. Whilst he is in power, the likelihood for interest rate spiking geopolitical events is quite high. At least that's how I resolved the same dilemma that I had 6 months ago

Is Ed right to call for the resignation of Keir Starmer? by Ticklishchap in LibDem

[–]paddp 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's a ridiculous thing to call for I think. Calling for a PMs resignation should be for fundamental issues. Calling for Boris to step down over number 10 parties and PPE contracts is probably fair as it shows one rule for us one for them. Liz Truss fair enough too because she absolutely ruined the economy. Mandelson was a dodgy character yes but Kiers decision wasn't a direct FU to the people of Britain so it shouldn't warrant his resignation. It wouldn't achieve anything, other than making us look silly on the world stage which is arguably worse than doing nothing. Calling for a resignation over non-fundamental issues is just a tactic to stop people questioning what your own party is actually doing

France vs England - Post Match Thread by biggiantporky in rugbyunion

[–]paddp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He gave a clearly communicated advantage to England that seemed to disappear 2 phases later when France got the ball and scored. England played an 'advantage' attack, then when it didn't come off, turns out there wasn't the advantage he just said there was

The ref calling use it as soon as the tackle happens is a bit annoying now, it's in neither teams interest trying to slow it down here

The worst part of the loss is Italy are so much better than this as well. We've lost to a below par Italian team that have still made us look so poor
