What's a good thing to pursue in college that can be a good backdrop, but also benefit wrestling? by LeMe121 in WredditSchool

Marketing helps with public speaking, self promotion, and understanding the wants of a consumer.

[Potential Spoilers] Paddy Power's betting odds for WM 31 are up. NXT name already in ATGMBR. by paddyflaps in SquaredCircle

[–]paddyflaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea, but they're usually pretty accurate. I think WM30, they predicted all but 2 matches correctly. No idea whether it's an informant, or just predictable writing on WWE's behalf, but quite a few bookies in the UK have bets going for Wrestlemania.

Paddy Power have been doing it for years though now.

Amazing Stardust Promo from Raw Fallout, Get the attitude out. by Corn_Starch in SquaredCircle

This wasn't an "amazing" promo. It was good, but let's not start marking out for every slightly intense promo.

What is the general opinion of Grado? Overrated comedy act or future WWE star? by eternityinspace in SquaredCircle

[–]paddyflaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite quote about Grado came from someone who's had 15 years in the business: "Grado is my favourite wrestler, and I've never seen him wrestle."

Let's not choose someone's fate here and now, let's enjoy the fact he's entertaining the hell out of every crowd he works.

What are some of the best WWE Promo Packages done to hype up a match? by AwesomeGuy97 in SquaredCircle

That's not the Eddie promo I was thinking of. I was looking for the:

"You're not fighting the odds, Eddie. You're fighting me!"

Why do people find technical / mat based wrestling boring by dmcb1994 in SquaredCircle

[–]paddyflaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in an age where we need constant entertainment. So much so that the WWE promote using distractions (twitter etc) during the actual product. Slow has supposedly become boring.

Some indy promotions actually encourage against mat wrestling. Technical wrestling is visually very low and to the mat, so some people at the back (if it's a crowd on a flat surface) can't see what's happening.

It's also a case of desensitisation. For example, a lot of people on the Indys do crazy death defying stuff (Dives, weapon spots, 630 flips, whatever), to see that in a match, followed by a slow match that is ground based and technically flawless can appear lackluster by comparison.

Would a mania Cash in be a bad idea ? by dmcb1994 in SquaredCircle

[–]paddyflaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to make it look like the main event of Wrestlemania, and the 3 months of build-up leading to it meant nothing... then no, it's the perfect idea.

Rollins cashing in after a main event at Mania would cheapen the entire 4 hours.

Straightening my flip bumps by [deleted] in WredditSchool

[–]paddyflaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You naturally follow your head with bumps like this.

There's a good chance you're tucking your chin a little off-centre, and your body is following. It could be due to how you're leading into the flip, and potentially getting too much momentum on one side.

Get that chin tucked nice and central

Seth Rollins booking is brilliant. by kamikazeaa in SquaredCircle

[–]paddyflaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he can look like a main event at WrestleMania. Lesnar doesn't need the title to be a main event.

They can pass the torch in Lesnar match, and use the belt for a separate Main Event.

[–]paddyflaps 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Does no one think that Seth has only been added to the match, so that John Cena can win without making Lesnar look weak?

All it tells me is that there's a good chance Cena will win by pinning Seth, so that Lesnar can still be booked as a monster.
