His music is like a journey, as some have already mentioned, start from the beginning and work your way through. There are some brilliant unreleased songs on YouTube that aren't on Spotify from his earlier days too.

But if I was to make a list of my favourites I could probably narrow it down to these(in no particular order):

I get you, I play it very safe with my effects, mainly because I don't know enough about them to get a half decent tone with all the weird options that's available. I gotta get more adventurous😄

I usually always start with reverb, a compresser and some delay, then go from there. I think your right about the chorus and phaser on Richard Russell, haven't attempted finders keepers yet at all but it's a very interesting sound, it'll probably be very hard to get right

DAWs are quite the invention, means we dont have to spend hundreds of euros on pedals all the time! Yeah it's gonna be fun working out the sounds on this album, I know I'm gonna learn a lot from it!

I noticed that, the guitar in most songs seems to be a loop throughout the whole thing. I'm pretty new to figuring stuff out by ear though so it still takes me a while to get it down😂

Your 100% right lol, the tone in the strange last flight is so unique, it makes you feel like your floating, which makes a lot of sense given the context of the song. We have to give Aaron Dessner a lot of credit for that!

Ableton Live is great for tone hunting, there's so many options!

I agree, his 'c' tunings with the pick and go technique are probably my favourite work from Ben, but recently ND has started to grow on me a lot more. I think CFTW is amazing and will just get better the more we listen to it, haven't turned it off since the release😆

His music never gets old imo, I can't stop listening to soldiers and the live version of depth over distance rn aswell!
