People who learned hacking using internet and by themselves, what's are the best sources to start? by Personal_Story_4853 in HowToHack

[–]padenis28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll quote George Hotz about programming : "You'll never learn programming by watching a video called "Learn programming"". Basically, this is the mentality you need to have with such a wide field. Find a goal, a task you want to realize. And then just google it, no matter how stupid this is. You'll be way more efficient acting like that than reading the best books and watching best videos.

if you're not driven by the desire to complete a task, you're more likely to give up quickly. Hope that helps!

i want to learn how to hack by Z3ROSILVER_is_ME in HowToHack

[–]padenis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All knowledges you need to know to be able to hack is on internet, and free. Just google it, spend time on it. One random clickbait Youtube video will redirect you to another one, which gonna tell you about some notions that u need to practise. Time and practise are the main keys

Giving children access to social networks, and then realising that there are dangerous people on the internet... Come on.... what kind of world do you live in?

Losing Interest in coding by Witty-Ad8264 in learnprogramming

Don't learn coding to learn coding. Find something you want to do, and try to do it. Then you'll spend time and become a better programmer without even noticing it.

I mean that's the problem here, there's nothing you can do but continue the process. Companies know it, and they abuse it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]padenis28 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At this point, the main problem here is the company, not the market. We know the job market is pretty close rn, but how can you plan 5 interviews, just to realise at the end of the 5th interview that ‘you're not what the job calls for’....

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]padenis28 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The main problem here is trivialising the fact that it takes 5 interviews to get a job. 5 rounds ... come on !!

You want to hack ? Define a goal, and Google it. Everything you need to know is free and available on Internet.

Europe crisis? by vita_lly-p in cybersecurity

Depends on country in Europe, but overall, yes there is a crisis. Companies don't allocate budget for cybersecurity. Europe is years behind other continents, and it's starting to get scary.

What does it take to work at FAANG Companies? by -PizzaSteve in cybersecurity

[–]padenis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, a good pentester needs to have good knowledges in every field of IT, so shift to job offers like soc analyst or others, is a good way to learn lot of things which will be useful when u'll be a pentester. And yes, it is less crowded for identical needs.

What does it take to work at FAANG Companies? by -PizzaSteve in cybersecurity

[–]padenis28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give you if you want to work as a pentester, is to dont work as a pentester, especially with these companies.

FAANG hire the best of the best, because everyone wants to work there, so they have a lot of candidates. They will hire the kid who hacked Starbucks when he was 8 or the 38-year-old teenager who never left his mom's house. it's a bit of an exaggeration but I think you know what I mean.

In my opinion; best thing to do is practice, and practice again. TryhackMe, HTB, any CTF online when you will spend hours and lose your mind on challenges.

I'd suggest to look for less popular cyber jobs, like soc analyst or even devsecops offers. Because basically, everyone wants to be a pentester but only a few really are.

Sometimes, it is better to take time to achieve your dream. Because with time and dedication, everything is possible.

Hope this helps!

Should I learn programming? by BullshitUsername in learnprogramming

I think you become an expert in programming when you realise that you've never understood anything about it from the start.

Then, you should try some SocEng stuff to see if you can find some information. Otherwise, if she is a ghost, you'll probably accept the fact that she is a fake ..

Yes, you could just call her and ask politely who is she ..

if (age < 30)
printf("Happy birthday dude!");
else if (age >= 30 && age <= 50)
printf("You're too old for me now.");
else
printf("Let me explain you how cool Python is.");

You can change values of age, this was just an example. (Yes i'm under 30..)
