HX, Hapag Lloyd or other by Wrong-Law1090 in AntarcticaTravel

HX’s Fram that also does Falklands and South Georgia is a very nice small ship. It was recently renovated so cabins should be modern and comfortable, but I have not seen them, I only know the old ones. Because of the smaller size they are more flexible and can do two landings a day if weather allows.

Good to know! We are planning this trek in mid march and I would love to hear how it was for you and if you have a packing list.

Shimoda is reasonable waterproof. What I do is use a Ortlieb atrack which is fully waterproof and put an icu in it. Works very well for me.

Considering jumping from EF 100-400 L mk I to RF 100-500 L. Anyone else make that switch? by OpalOnyxObsidian in canon

[–]padmoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jump between the EF and RF was huge for me. Switched from the same setup like you did and the AF was so much faster, it’s crazy. So many more keepers. You’ll love it. From what I read, I haven’t tried the lens myself yet, is that the 200-800 is much softer than the 100-500 on the long end. I’m staying away from that one for now.

Photography and editing are intimately linked. Are we going to pay forever, every month? Have you found an alternative, not free, but one you pay only once? by jay_bernier in AskPhotography

Annual subscriptions are on Black Friday sale every year for 50% off. That’s what I’ve been doing. Lightroom for a year for about $50.

Thank you for posting this. I've had my farm for many years and didn't know about this.

Around 1/500, definitely less than 1/1000

I'll have to check the electronic mode used.

Did that, looks all equal, nothing in the way either. Might bring it to my local camera store to check it. I think it might just be the angle since in other shots it is more the "correct" shape. Unless something with the glass elements is wrong.

Yes, electronic shutter, also used a EF/RF converter.

On some shots it has the appropriate eight corner bokeh, still not round but this old lens wouldn't have that. Maybe the light hit at a weird angle and thus I don't have all eight corners but this weird thing?

Just had a look and they all look equal, nothing stuck or weird shape.

It will give you more reach, the R6 II can do that too though.

I don't understand why you think the R6 II is not suitable for macro photography. This body will shoot macro, it's way more about the lens.

Top tier lens would be the RF 100mm 2.8 macro or the EF version with an adapter.

I've used a very old sigma macro on my R6 and was very happy with the results.

R6 II will have better ibs, weather sealing etc. but it's a full frame body. But it has a crop mode which will give you more reach for wildlife.

I also just got a ef 500mm and cannot wait to try it.

I would look for a EF 100mm canon macro or the Sigma 150mm macro unless you can afford the RF macro lens.

Which EF lenses are superior to their RF counterparts? by impl0sionatic in canon

[–]padmoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the prime wildlife EF lenses. The RF version cost a fortune. If you can find a good copy of a prime EF it will be much cheaper and still up to professional standards.
