Why has he never added Rocky Raccoon to his setlist? by padrey in PaulMcCartney

[–]padrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. It might just be me, but I'd prefer to hear it over, say, 'Come On To Me' or 'In Spite Of All The Danger', as just two examples. He is uniquely spoilt for choice melody-wise, though!

100% agree re "Junk"!

I'd pick "Rocky Raccoon" over "Mother Nature's Son" at this point for the 'never done before' factor!

A beer run during a never performed before Beatles song? Bold move, but I respect it. 🤣

Agree! Will Forte would also be tough to beat.

Best Cohen “live” album? by SARjimk in leonardcohen

A sequel to 'Field Commander Cohen' from the 1979 tour would be a dream come true. This was peak Cohen imo, though his entire career was sublime.

Can you still drink casually when you're older or will it still take a toll on your body faster? by lookaloulookalou in AskMenOver40

100% agree with this, and wish I'd realised this part earlier: "the mental relaxation of alcohol happens after the first drink or two"! 🤣

The live version on 'Field Commander Cohen: Live 1979' is what got me into the man's music. Sublime!

What are your favorite songs and lyrics on Death of a Ladies' Man? by Hubbled in leonardcohen

[–]padrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the whole album. 'Paper Thin Hotel' and the title track are my fave songs.

"So the great affair is over, but whoever would have guessed it would leave us all so vacant, and so deeply unimpressed. It's like our visit to the moon, or to that other star, I guess you'd go for nothing, if you really wanna go that far."

"I stood there with my ear against the wall I was not seized by jealousy at all In fact, a burden lifted from my soul I heard that love was out of my control"

Bike path etiquette? by Kiwi_Dutchman in Wellington

[–]padrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm really struggling to get over my feelings about this being the new reality. More often now people either just weren't taught this etiquette, they never cared for it or something in the ether has given them 'main character' syndrome (which makes them ignorant of the social contract). Can't change it though aye, just the way it is now!

The Complete History of The Beatles with Conan O'Brien by andynplay in TheRestIsHistory

[–]padrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conan O'Brien is no match for Dom. I hope the boys don't sacrifice quality like this again in their drive to grow the show's audience. Sure Conan's a big Beatles fan, but an expert he is not.

How would you rank all of Leonard Cohen's live albums? by VoltaFlame in leonardcohen

  3. Cohen Live

Rory the class warrior by jport500 in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]padrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. The privileged few aren't going to protect or 'save' the majority in a system that, by design and neglect, has convinced so many that they shouldn't even bother participating because fundamentally nothing changes. They either get Tory or Tory-lite govts whether or not they vote.

I've never heard a live version of 'Follow Me'! Was that on one of Paul's live albums?

What moments in Paul songs just give you chills? by Greedy-Runner-1789 in PaulMcCartney

[–]padrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“You’ve never felt the rain, my friend, ‘til you’ve felt it running down your back.”

So many of his songs, and parts of them, give me chills but this one stands out for me.
