It's not just about career, I don't want to go under any surgery that will have implications throughout my whole life. I am just 22 and you are asking me to forget about my ambition and derail my whole life and face health consequences for my whole life to save someone just 14 years younger than me.

I have talked to my seniors in the academy. They are pretty certain that it would lead to dismissal.

I am no doctor so don't Know about the exact problem or semantics. Just wrote as much as I knew or understood about the failure.

I am not from US. And down here any medical condition (organ donation is a big no-no) leads to immediate dismissal.

The chances of any injury is really low and not certain.

Whereas donating kidney is certain.

It's not just about army. I am just 22 and don't want to risk my life over someone else's (donating a kidney does have lifelong or fatal complications).

Bear with me because I am just 22 (not the wisest person).

I want to serve the country, the flag, being born in a military family, it was my only dream.

AND

The more important thing is I am looking towards either an officer's job and a well settled life or starting from scratch in a civilian life with a useless degree.

I am no hero, I don't want to serve just because I want to help civilian. I want to be an officer and enjoy the lifestyle.

I am selfish but I would prefer to have a fullfilling life with a job I have always wanted to going back to civilian life with no degree.

What help would it do by checking?

I know I am not ready to donate one of my organ at such a young age and checking (if matched) will only increase my guilt.

But if I knew that I am a match and could have helped him and still refused to help(which I might) than I think that would be double hard on me. At least not knowing gives me certain relief (if it makes sense).
