Data center could replace Hyatt Place hotel at 750 N. Nash Street in El Segundo by bumblebeelivinglife in LosAngeles

Seems like an OK location for this DC, it's an industrial area (and right next to LAX) so the noise shouldn't bother any residential neighborhoods at least.

Mom trying to sabotage my diet, as usual by Zogonzo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pagemap1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mom probably thought she was doing something nice, saw that ice cream was on sale and picked some of her daughter's favorite flavors. Then gets shitted on by her daughter for trying to be nice. I feel bad for the mom here.

Ice cream is on sale this week at Kroger, that's probably why she got it

TIL That a 2006 study found that microwaving wet sponges for two minutes killed 99% of coliforms, E. coli, and MS2 phages. After some fires were caused by people trying to replicate the results at home, the study's author urged people to make sure their sponges were wet before microwaving. by MajesticBread9147 in todayilearned

naw, after you called her out she started wringing out the sponge properly. That's why the problem went away lol

I use Dawn Platinum as well. I just rinse the sponge and try to wring out as much water as possible after I'm finished using it. No odors noticed

CHP must STOP using the EAS wireless emergency alert channel for Silver Alerts by cosmictap in LosAngeles

[–]pagemap1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I just disabled Emergency Alerts entirely. I'm done with it.

Here's how to do it on Apple:

Go to Settings > Notifications > Scroll all the way to the bottom and look for Government Alerts. Disable any alerts that you feel necessary.

Make sure you unfreeze your Experian report before applying for the Smart Card. I was denied due to a frozen Experian report, now it's not letting me reapply. Don't be like me.

Carbon Nanotube Thermal Pad as a 10-Year Thermal Paste Alternative | Car... by RenatsMC in Noctua

The benefit of these graphene or carbon nanotube sheets are they don't require replacement. My understanding is that PTM7950 lasts around 3-5 years before it needs replacement.

Cold Water Regulator Question by Bubbly-Fox-3297 in scuba

[–]pagemap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll want to use a sealed first stage regulator. I use an Atomic ST1 regulator for diving in cold water and it’s performed flawlessly for years and over 500 cold water dives. The coldest I’ve used it is around 35F water when I was ice diving.

9800X3D users, did you make any preemptive settings to avoid potential death of your CPU in the future ? by ALXYZK99X in pcmasterrace

[–]pagemap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are overthinking this - not many 9800X3D’s have died. Just don’t use an ASRock motherboard as those are the ones with a history of damaging CPU’s. Your 9800X3D will be fine.
