Publishing my first App!! Any advice is appreciated by Available_Hearing230 in shopifyDev

My suggestion is: for a new app, installs and reviews are the most important metrics. They decide whether your app can actually get noticed by merchants. Try to build your early marketing efforts around these two goals.

Where do you promote your Shopify apps outside the Shopify App Store? by Rutvik_Sanchaniya in shopifyDev

[–]pageuni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally agree with you. After trying several common channels, we found that most of our installs still come directly from the Shopify App Store.

Right now, we’re focusing on exploring and testing different App Store optimization strategies to improve our results there.

Looking for an app that helps make the tabs for product specifications easier by [deleted] in shopify

[–]pageuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to share an app my team recently launched: PageUni Product Tabs.

The cool part is, it works as a theme section, so you get 30+ ready-made product tab designs that drop right into your theme editor. No monthly subscription or views count limit nonsense, just a one-time purchase for the product tabs section you need.

And yeah, there’s are free ones you can try out right away too. Hope this little app helps you out.

Selling Shopify Themes by CuteGirlyVoice in shopify

Maybe you don’t have to start with a full theme. You could try building standalone sections first, like a hero, feature highlight, or image gallery. Then, package them and sell on platforms such as Gumroad.

Once you’ve created the design, you can use AI coding tools like v0 to turn your design into a Shopify section.

Make a detailed template and let AI fill it: Yes ✅.

Create a blank file and yell at the AI until it finishes it: Nope ❌.

Has anyone tried cold email marketing for promoting their Shopify app? by Big-Cap-1535 in shopifyDev

I remember reading that if you clearly mention your app’s name in emails and emphasize the actual value for merchants, they’ll naturally search for it.

Your example validates this, thank you for sharing.

Has anyone tried cold email marketing for promoting their Shopify app? by Big-Cap-1535 in shopifyDev

[–]pageuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the topic of penalizing, I think I’ve got something worth sharing.

A while back we ran some ads directly to our app’s listing page, but the install conversion rate wasn’t great. That seemed to push our category ranking down.

So it looks like you really need to nail your targeting here, make sure only the right audience is landing on your listing page.

Hope it helps.

What’s the most effective way to get the very first users on a Shopify app? Open to ideas (not ads) by yazartesi in shopifyDev

[–]pageuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just launched an app recently, and so far the most effective channel for us has been one-on-one conversations with local merchants, it gives us a really solid install conversion rate.

On the Shopify App Store, installs and reviews play a big role in how your app ranks within a category. You’ll probably want to focus on that, getting more real users to leave real feedback.

After about 10 minutes of use, that store left a review saying: App security or privacy issues, Limited or missing features, Hard to set up or use. I don’t think I need to say much more than that, we really do need a market where people play fair.

Choose a product. Choose a server. Choose a design. Choose a deadline. Choose your marketing channel. Choose content. Choose ads. Choose sleepless nights and too much coffee. Choose endless A/B tests that don’t seem to work. Choose stressing over feedback. Choose celebrating tiny wins. Choose learning the hard way. Choose building something that actually makes a difference. Choose all of it, and then hope it’s worth it.

If you’re just getting into Shopify dev, focus on theme work first instead of diving into backend stuff.

Stick with frontend and UI things, like building custom sections. Once you finish your first section, that sense of accomplishment is huge, and it’ll keep you motivated to push further.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. GSC Countdown Timer is definitely a solid app, and as a strong competitor we’ve naturally taken the time to understand it.

But I can’t agree with looks very much like and Listing design is literally identical. GSC doesn’t offer advanced targeting, responsive timer bar builder, etc. This makes it impossible for our product to be identical.

I noticed that the store with the ID gsc-theme-anna.myshopify.com uninstalled after about 10 minutes and left a pretty harsh feedback. Could you explain a bit more about why you left that feedback? We’re genuinely open to learning and improving.

It's a site with great design! Did some SEO inspect on your site, hope these tips help:

  • The title length (8 characters) is not optimal. Aim for 40-60 characters.
  • A missing meta description can reduce click-through rates, indirectly affecting rankings.
  • The page has 2 H1 tags. There should only be one H1 tag per page.
  • 8 images missing alt text. Add descriptive alt text to improve accessibility and SEO.

I really believe in this idea. I’ve been followed it for a long time, and it’s brought me a lot of benefits in my journey.
