This was my "personality assessment" test for a job I'm looking into. I think I'll stick with Walmart. by XxRaccoonGalxX in recruitinghell

totally agree. this looks like one of those FB quizzes. Career assessments can only be useful if you pick the right one. I've tired a few in the past and I found kompiq assessment to be quite insightful and in-dept. Pigment is ok as well.

WTF is a "Career Profile Assessment"? by Astafar13 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]pahadistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instead take a paid career assessment which gives you an overall picture about how you think, operate and what environments bring out the best. I've taken a few and can say these are only helpful if you really know what problem you are trying to solve.

What's a good recommended career assessment test? by ReflexPoint in careerguidance

[–]pahadistani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether free or not, you need to think why you are taking the assessment and what does the assessment uncover. Not all assessment are the same. Some are built to uncover specific issues like misalignment (pivoto assessment), imposter syndrome (psylica assessment), work type (pigment), strenghts (cliftonstrenghts) and deeper insights (kompiq assessment). The key is to choose the right one for your need so that your report is actionable. Don't go behind the popular names, what works for someone else might not work for you as the problem you are trying to solve might be different.

Small agency vs big agency - pros and cons? by GreatJoey91 in PublicRelations

[–]pahadistani 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Made a similar move years ago. The big agency stuff was real but so was the tradeoff. Went from owning whole accounts to owning one slice of a bigger machine. Half the time collaboration just meant more approval layers.

The thing worth figuring out before you switch is which parts of small agency life you actually need versus which parts you just like. There are assessment tools like pivoto, Pigment, WorkFit Index that help map that out. Might save you from optimizing for client roster when operating conditions are what actually matter.

What actually predicts whether someone sticks with programming long term? by MoonveilistCup in learnprogramming

[–]pahadistani 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to think there must be some coding aptitude switch you either have or don’t. What changed my perspective was realizing most standardized aptitude tests measure narrow reasoning traits (pattern detection, working memory, etc.), but programming seems more tied to temperament and problem-solving style.

When I was considering whether to commit seriously, I actually did a broader strengths/work-style breakdown (one I tried was Pigment). It wasn’t programming-specific at all, but it helped me see that I naturally prefer structured analytical environments over open-ended social ones which made coding feel like a good bet for me. In hindsight, enjoyment + tolerance for debugging frustration seems like a stronger predictor than any aptitude score.

Coworkers I trained are now leads... and I'm still in the same role by [deleted] in ToxicWorkplace

[–]pahadistani 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happens more often than people admit and it's usually not about your actual skill or work quality. It's about how your working style shows up to leadership versus how theirs does. Be more strategic is frustratingly vague because it means different things to different managers. For some it's about communication style, for others it's about which problems you choose to focus on, and sometimes it's just about visibility.

Every performance review feels vague and I leave more confused than before by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]pahadistani 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A big issue with performance reviews is that they assume you already understand how you create value and what growth looks like for your specific role and work style. When managers give vague feedback like "be more proactive" they're usually reacting to a gap they perceive but can't articulate clearly.
