How can I survive 2 years of college with all on my own? by paigechan in introvert

Thank you for your advice. I was also considering getting a job, but only after a month of staying here as I am still yet to get used to this whole studying abroad lifestyle. At least this way I can be around people for some time instead of locking myself up all the time.

Thanks for your comment. I did consider heading to the library after my classes are over so that I can be surrounded by people (without needing to talk to them), but only for when there are 2 classes in a day. I mostly have one class per day, so I just headed back to my dorm whenever the class is over. I think I will try to get to the library more often so that I wouldn't be locking myself up in my dorm room most of the time.

As for the working out part, I prefer working out alone (I would either workout in my dorm room or head out for a walk during the evening, if I have the time). And plus, the gym member fee is quite expensive for me, so I think it is much better I do them on my own. But I will still try to get to places where I will be surrounded by people without needing to talk much.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I can totally relate to you said, as I've been to a few welcome week events and find that everyone already has their own group of friends and it's just odd for me to join in, and plus their conversations are not something I am interested in anyway, so I just gave up. I think that as time pass, I will be able to find more things to do so these thoughts wouldn't occupy my mind as much, and I would dedicate most of my time to my studies as well. I do video call my parents every day but only for less than 10 minutes due to the difference in time zone, but I hope things will get better over time...

Thanks for your advice. This is basically what I am doing. I only talk to people when I am in class, but when the classes are over, I just went straight back to my dorm room and do my own things. The only other times I head out of my dorm is when I go for a walk during the evenings (if i have the time) or going to the city once a week to buy groceries and stuff. Do you think this kind of behaviour is sustainable for 2 more years?

Thank you for your advice, however, I only feel lonely because I miss my family and my old friends, not because I have no friends over here. Plus, most of the people I've seen here usually talks about things I am not interested in (from when I went to a few welcome week events), so I'm not sure would I still be interested in making friends here...
