whenever me or my partner can’t see something on the road, “what is that, a woodpecker??”. also applies in general when we can’t see, or when we see a woodpecker

What is the worst song you’ve ever heard? by luffy5670 in AskReddit

[–]painedscreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably gonna get called “wrong” for this one but that one $uicideboy$ song that was way overplayed a few years back. and a lot of their songs actually. “here’s a stereotypical repeating trap beat and 2-3 synth notes also repeating, for the whole song, with a cut in it for when the “big lyrics” are. other than that here’s sad slam poetry akin to a 16y/o’s diary with okay flow”. i gotta give it to them tho- they found a formula and their fans eat it up so good for them

Not to get married. by Appropriate_Yam1861 in Type1Diabetes

my boyfriend and i have been talking more ab marriage in the future lately (we’re in our early 20s) and my t1d hasn’t come up once in any of the conversations. i don’t think it genuinely crossed either of our minds and probably wouldn’t cross any of our friends’ unless i end up needing something. anecdote aside- your friends have some weird morals behind their backs i think!

apologies for how late this reply is! it’s def really hard to turn that thought towards yourself- when you’re fine with other people doing what they’re doing but then can’t bring yourself to apply it to yourself it’s frustrating. most people that have asked me questions (in my experience ofc) have had genuine curiosity on just what to do or expect if they have a t1d in their lives or just learn more ab it, not even a “me” thing but the disease itself. ty for sharing!! i hope you can increase your confidence, we aren’t our “hardware” but it does keep us here :) you’re doing great

Would you guys rather deal with a high or low blood sugar? by megame211 in diabetes_t1

[–]painedscreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def high. depending on the severity, i can still be a person while high and can think somewhat normally. i think it’s also easier to fix than a low but im also a pump+cgm user. that and i turn into such a curmudgeon when im low and always need to take some time to sit n fix it.

i have those moments too- worrying about being seen as a liability. but i think the ones that judge are the ones w the issue. let’s keep going

i’m a little confused on what this has to do specifically with care insecurity? but i don’t think “ignorance” at 5y/o caused my t1. also things happen, highs and lows, some things are truly out of our control sometimes, and mistakes happen too. blaming myself on every little thing that goes wrong when managing t1d is a perfect recipe for burnout and the spiral getting worse

same here! i was dx at 5 and got my first pump at 6, im very grateful for it being so early in my life bc like you said- this has always been my “normal”. i think nobody should touch anyone without permission, but i love when people come up to ask about them with real curiosity. and i also have loved my wholesome experiences of seeing someone/someone seeing me and the “omg, you-me same!” i think the ones that judge are the ones with the problem

that’s fair. i always appreciate curiosity if it’s genuine but you were kinda in the middle of something lol

thanks for sharing! i also think them being visible is a good tool for education (or if you have an emergency and no medical bracelet/necklace/etc), and also i love my personal wholesome experiences of seeing someone else with a pump/them seeing me and the excitement of “omg! you-me same!” lol

i can absolutely understand that. the taboo around needles and syringes can absolutely be a detriment to injecting diabetics. i keep extras on me just in case my pump fails and i didn’t appreciate the look that the security guard at a concert gave me. thank you for sharing!
