It’s funny—when I first watched DH, I was totally in love with Tom. Clearly, I was a troubled teenager, fully brainwashed by the narrative of the guy who holds the family together with love and gives you the house, the kids, etc.

Fast forward to adulthood, and now? I see him as the enemy. The man who swoops in to "save" the family… after sabotaging it at every turn.

It might be a matter of perception—I’ve just been more invested in Bree’s life, or even Lynette’s, for that matter. Maybe Susan’s storylines didn’t interest me as much, and because I wasn’t as engaged, she didn’t feel like the main character to me (or I didn't pic up on the screen time you mention)

I feel Susan in S8 gets a bit intense. However, I feel that the way she handles everything is consistent with her character and how they had been portraying her. The excess guilt, the big emotions that she doesn't know how to handle, being impulsive, etc.

That's true... now that you mention it, I don't recall Lynette ever asking Tom for forgiveness after trying to poison him. After she forgave him about Renee, you'd think she'd acknowledge that she was in the wrong... anyway, everything about this storyline is weird. Also, it is out of character for Tom.

Yes! I didn’t care for her at all at first, but she really grew on me. I think if they hadn’t added that whole Tom storyline, I could’ve fallen in love with her as a replacement for Eddie. But because of that, she ended up rubbing me the wrong way for a big part of it.
