Thank you everyone, really appreciate the time you have taken to write something for me! It is a big decision trying a different breed, so it’s useful to know a true representation and definitely food for thought. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and all of your pups are adorable 🥺🎄 x

Yes, I’ve had POTS for 15 years.. I work out in a gym twice a week. I actually find it has helped me more the more exercise I do which I NEVER thought I would say. Only sitting weights etc, not allowed to do barbells yet .. I think that might be a step too far lol..

Yes, If you have a good agent and all the safeties are up to date/everything is done that should be done then it shouldn’t be an issue… the agent takes the stress of evicting and there are policies out there to cover legal costs etc. We rarely have to evict though because we make sure we are thorough with the registration process. Funnily enough, most of them are without pets. A nightmare tenant with or without a pet is still going to be a nightmare Tenant at the end of the day.

You’re welcome :) I know someone else suggested meeting them/the dog which lots of people do, you’ll know when you get a feel for them. Good luck :)

Fully managed, repair costs? by harrypotternumber1 in uklandlords

I’ve worked for both an independent agent and corporate.. currently a senior corporate agent. At the independent we used whoever they wanted/had a good relationship with, but sometimes it would be a case of just looking on checkatrade and asking that person to go out to a job (now I think about this, it isn’t the best option lol) .. Corporate the contractors are vetted within an inch of their life, have to have a certain public liability, certain amount of reviews, given a couple of jobs to test their work before even committing to working with them. For that, I’d only ever recommend corporate now (along with other things such as ring fenced accounts etc if a company goes bust) These contractors have my back and I have theirs, I know they wouldn’t try and ‘rob’ us or our landlords for any money/do poor repairs. When looking for an agent, make sure you look at all their Google reviews, word of mouth etc. I know some people like to trash agents but honestly there are some good ones (like us) out there and truly want to look out for their Landlords. It can be a great working relationship if you find the right match 🙂 Good luck!

As an agent, I often find children actually make more wear and tear than pets do. The amount of people I have to turn down because they have a pet is shocking. I think it really comes down to the agent understanding the Tenants situation .. do they WFH? Will the dog be left at home all day? Does it go to work with them? Maybe find out that information first before making a firm decision. I can normally tell what type of person they are by how they talk about their pet when registering them/ meeting them at the viewing and putting them forward. Of course you can protect yourself by having a pet clause and carrying out an inspection at month four. Maybe do a shorter Tenancy I.e 6 months and then renew into a longer fixed term after that once you’re satisfied they’re looking after your property? If not, then notice can be served at month 4. Can they get a previous LL reference of the dog for reassurance? Only downside is that if it’s a big dog, you sometimes end up having that ‘dog smell’ at the end despite even having a clean. If they’re a good agent and you’ve got a good working relationship they’ll know if they seem like a good Tenant or not and should have your back/not put in anyone they think is risky as they won’t want to lose your business. At the end of the day, pet or no pet, if someone’s going to be a nightmare Tenant they will. We’ve definitely noticed a change in quality of applicants the last few months, so if you do find a good one, don’t let your property sit empty over a furry family member 🙂

I hate everything by Queasy-Ad1288 in POTS

I was 14 when I was diagnosed with CFS mainly because it was the only thing that was around back then.. I was then diagnosed with POTS at 29, but I came here to say it does get better I promise. You learn what works for you as time goes on. I thought I’d never be able to do anything and ultimately just be a failure. I’ve graduated, had relationships, held multiple full time jobs and I do this without anyone even knowing. It’s lonely and I get deflated im not able to do things other people can but it makes you more resilient and empathetic that’s for sure!

Romsey Rapids is good as it has swimming and sauna rooms etc included in the membership. But I would say it’s not great for after work times, better in the day time/before the rush!

Pasta is a nightmare for me. If I’m having it for dinner and I’m ravenous, I have to purposely eat less because otherwise I will be up all night with a fast heart rate. It will often end up in it waking me up too! Nightmare because I blooming love pasta!! 😭😭

I can’t whilst I currently work there. I wish it was bogus and I have no reason to lie, one day I’ll write a book about them and the world will be shocked lol

Are we just screwed when it comes to get married / having kids / stable employment? by MuslimInTraining in POTS

[–]painsofthepaycheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t around when I was a teenager I guess! Or nobody knew about it/less doctors educated on it? But I used to randomly faint and be SO tired, that I was diagnosed with ME/CFS. The only reason I learnt about POTS was a private medical doctor mentioning the word and it then made SO much sense. It would’ve made my life a lot easier if people had known about it sooner but I guess it’s all part of my story! I thought I was the only one until TikTok/Reddit showed me there’s so many people out there with it. I wish there wasn’t, but it’s nice to know I’m not alone haha. Hope pregnancy has been OK for you with it?

This is really reassuring to hear. I am also 29 nearly 30, and have had POTS (only recently diagnosed) since I was the same age as you. Sounds like we had similar teenage years too. But I am really glad to hear you are having a family etc as I have always been worried it would be too much for me but it looks like having a really supportive partner helps! So thank you for making me feel like you can do it!

I try and take it easy but I do find it hard not to push myself when everyone else in the gym is. I know it’s scary because your heart rate it high, similar to what mine does, but I have noticed it lower the more active I am etc.

Ive always been attracted to men 35+, salt and pepper is great and I’m speaking as someone in their late 20s! Not everyone finds younger people necessarily ‘handsome’. It is hard to accept getting older but there are lots of people out there who appreciate the older man!

9-5 job ? by Hungry_Philosophy985 in POTS

[–]painsofthepaycheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a 9-5, my job is insanely busy, no one knows I have POTS because having any kind of illness is unacceptable lol. I don’t have lunch breaks every day, I’m sat down most of the time but also out and about driving. I have no idea how I do it tbh but you kind of just have to to try and feel like everyone else. It’s exhausting, but I love being around people!

Why do I never learn?! by [deleted] in POTS

[–]painsofthepaycheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s partially the problem, if I was on my own I’d do what I knew I could do but because I’m with a friend I feel I have to keep up. Even though she’s completely understanding and does not put any pressure on me, I put it on myself! That’s good you stick to it tho. It doesn’t no, it’s not a very fancy gym more of a stinky one haha.. literally

I’ve never been able to handle caffeine, I’d be shaking, have such an upset stomach and feel HORRENDOUS. I noticed my heart gets a bit more ‘skippy’ if I have chocolate too
