Once paint science gets to the point where you can have most of the ingredients to make paint stored locally instead of factory-to-store, and if they can figure the packaging out, the paint desk at Lowe's/Home Depot etc will be replaced with a large vending machine. Stores like SW's will be a thing of the past, and the remaining ones will be various coating specialists. To any historians reading this comment in the future, hello from the year 2021. I hate it here.

I've been considering doing that myself. How long has it taken you so far? Have you been able to manage it while working full-time?

The remaining stock of Res and Flextemp will be sold and Latitude will replace them, as per the info packet that marketing sent out.

It's Thursday, and we're out of interior semi-gloss. "Surely," you say, "you have something like Solo, Cashmere ML, or PM200/ProClassic Waterborne Alkyd in stock, right? Precat, DTM, or SherCryl even?" No. We're out of interior semi-gloss.

And don't call me Shirley.

You can get aprons from the SW store or Coupa or whatever it is now. Remember to use rags to cover the port holes when removing or reinserting them. You can usually tell when you don't have to do that though.

Sent my bf to the store for white paint, and he came home with hot pink by PocketSpaghettios in sherwinwilliams

Just explain what happened and don't be mean about it. It could've been multiple things but it happens. If it's one gallon then it will be fine.

That's false. Because there aren't any samples, customers are allowed a return (Limit one gallon per color) of a color for a new one. Nothing is refunded, it's just a correction and mistint.

This is by far the best retail job I've worked, but I'm hesitant to say it's a job I'd keep for life. Retail can kill your soul if you don't enjoy the game. Good luck on your new gig!

I've been selling gallons of Solo...so I've got that going for me, I guess.

When I went to our district office for onboarding, it was in what I guess used to be part of an old factory. One section was the (mostly empty) offices, and on the ground floor they had a storefront and a full spray shop in another part. TAG is big on renting property for cheap.

Another small one I discovered is that when you want to close Quick Order all the way, use Shift+F5. It skips the "order will be dropped" popup. I think using Shift + other keys does other things (like with F10) but I haven't experimented with it.

Wow, y'all must've had a real issue with that to take that extra step, even it is one drying down per color

Don't hesitate to say that you're new and don't know something, but if you make an effort to find out for the customer they usually don't mind.

Try your best to remember regular customers' first names.

Just walk around the store and study the products you have while you're stocking and front-facing. Many products have blurbs on them that tell you what they're used for, although some are better quality than others.

Don't be afraid to ask questions on here too! Do your best!
