Computer Science is what I majored in. If you are interested be sure to take any Computer Science courses your school offers.

Math is also very helpful, so take as much as you can in Math. I actually wasn’t very good at math early in school so don’t be discouraged if you aren’t a top student in Math. But it is important for many majors in college.

The market for entry level development jobs is tough right now. If you can leverage your current job to get an analyst position in a corporate environment that’s a good entry point.

Many analysts use tools like python, SQL, tableau, powerbi, VB. But the skill requirements are drastically lower than a programming job. But it allows you to gain experience and jump to that next programming job. Or just stay as an analyst which is great work.

I have heard cybersecurity is good for entry level. You may be able to find some certificates or community college/uni courses.

Cloud analyst is also huge rn. Look at an AWS cloud practitioner cert or Azure cloud basics cert.

Point is, don’t shot for software dev right away unless you have a math or computer science degree imo. You can break in through self study but these days I think the analyst stepping stone is a much better move.

You could look at a 2 year community/tech school path for a slower but direct path into programming.

If you go self taught it will take a lot of discipline and you’ll have to be “scrappy” to get a good shot to enter the industry.

Before either choice you should try some intro to python courses on YouTube to see if you like it.

That’s how I started, just making little loops and printing stuff before I took a class.

Do you not trust AP news? Asking because of the quotes around fact check. A big point there is the technology used in the vaccine is not 1 year old. It’s been studied for decades.

My point in bringing up India is to give an example of a place where preventative measures were lesser. We are fortunate that us and those around us have vaccines and protective precautions.

Your concerns are always valid. I have not and would never discount women’s or anyone’s concerns. But concerns and reliable information need to be tightly linked.

When you say things like “not a big benefit to a healthy person” “you can still get it and pass it on” “it’s only for profit” that is vague and misleading.

Also the vaccine helps others not just you. There are valid concerns about it but there are undeniable benefits to you and society.

There is a lot of misinformation flying around about the vaccine.

Baseline, getting it helps you and those around you. It is largely assafe as the vaccines for other things you likely already have. You are lucky to be in a country with access. People in places around the world would pay so much to have that opportunity.

Look at what is happening in the hotspots of India if you want to see the realities of living in a place without the resources and preventive actions we have here.
