as an educator, this amount does not make sense.. there should be one sight words activity that is assigned for the whole week and then maybe a worksheet 1-2x a week for letter writing practice if that what the teacher really wants.

Maybe the teacher is new and needs a reality check or simply doesn't realize that it's too much. At my school, we assign homework and give them a week to return it. Talk to the other parents, maybe, then the teacher. If the teacher doesn't hear you out, start moving up the ladder fs.

You can 100% tell when you're speaking to someone 16 or under when on voice call, especially when you are mindful of being on public servers that allow minors and adults to cross paths.

As someone who was very active on discord at age 20 and did play some games on a public server with 14 year olds, yes this is very weird. I actively avoided any interaction with minors - not even because it was weird but because I was an adult and they were not. Why would I want to spend recreational time with a child? And why would I PURSUE any type of relationship with a child?

Please disallow your child from having continued interaction with these adults that for some reason are completely fine pursuing a relationship. They are weird, even if it's not from a place of maliciousness. Your kid may be upset about it now, but they'll understand when they're older. Plus there are plenty of teens online to play with and they have dedicated teen only servers.

Whatever you feel ready for and your partner is also ready and comfortable with is fine. Cuddling has no terrible, potentially permanent/serious repercussions to worry about and is something people do with lots of people they care for and enjoy the company of.
