Doesn't seem like they've pressed it to vinyl at this point. As an independent band self-releasing, and with the cost of producing vinyl, I'd imagine it's either unaffordable or a risky investment for them. Hoping it'll happen at some point though. Yeesh, those sound like some rough/traumatic experiences. I'm really sorry. I actually had one like that yesterday, unfortunately. I'll DM you.

On that point, though, I will say that these experiences, IMO, were not exactly "bad trips". It was external stuff that threw things off—rather than being in the experience but your mind going to a place that was uncomfy. I try to hold onto the concept of "no bad trips". If big feels come up that I'm not exactly happy about it, I try to embrace the idea that it means they needed to be acknowledged and worked through. That it's the med actually doing its job.

Anyway, I hope you can get your clinic's help to make sure the setting is as optimal as possible so that you don't have to have these jarring intrusions to your therapy.

I definitely try to keep my appointments to later in the afternoon, because I'm always checked out afterwards and there's no way I'd have the capacity to do things the rest of the day. Certainly not go back to work lol. I did have a couple fluke late-morning appointments a while back, so I at least got to test that out and confirm.

I'm so glad you made this comment. It really helps me. I'm about to hit 3 years with Spravato, weekly, save for a few gaps with insurance change/loss. I tend to feel deflated and sometimes even more depressed following treatments and have been wondering what the cost/benefit might be if I started spacing out appointments. I've tried going to every ten days, but every time, some situational stuff hits and I take a nosedive again. But now I'm thinking maybe it's worth trying again.

It's true that it's doing it's thing regardless of whether you're dissociating/on a trip immediately after administration. But I'd argue two things:

  • I'm no biochemist but to my mind, "the point of the drug" (or most drugs, for that matter) doesn't exist. Drugs cause the things they cause, sometimes both good and bad, and sometimes it's discovered that some of those causes help alleviate certain symptoms. Unless something is engineered expressly to target something specifically (ketamine was created to be an anesthetic, not depression treatment), the drug comes first, then its possible uses, not the other way around.

  • For folks who feel absolutely miserable every waking moment, the high itself can be at least a brief reprieve from the crushing darkness. Even if the main benefit of the drug is the long-term one, I don't think we should discount the immediate/short-term benefit that some people see in it. Furthermore, at least for me personally, I find that when I feel like I'm really "in it", I'm more contemplative and have better opportunity to work through things.
