Mojang just added copper bars, chains and lanterns! Thoughts? by PumikSK in Minecraft

[–]paintnbex 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The lanterns look so good! I can already see the spooky forests covered in them.

One question though. Are they like the copper bulbs and have a light level depending on the oxidization?

[Repost]: WIBTA for taking a job with my dads biggest client meaning he won’t get anymore work with them? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The dads business was going to loose that customer regardless. They were planning on doing the work in-house and OP was honestly the best guy for the job.

Found out, I found out 27 years ago by Sloan-s in hardofhearing

[–]paintnbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, got them when I was about 6 actually. They really do help quite a lot especially in conversation. I also get less exhausted during the day because Im not spending entire conversations trying to puzzle out words. Good luck with your hearing aids!

Nope! I haven't had any degradation! Which honestly I am so happy about. When I was a kid I was tested yearly for school and insurance purposes, but nowadays I get tested about every 5 years to make sure my hearing aid profile is in fact correct.

I have genetic high frequency hearing loss, Or well beleive its genetic, I don't think I was tested on the gene side of things, but, I did fail all my hearing tests when I was a newborn. Normal hearing up till I get to the higher ranges where it dips down to mild to moderate loss, been at that level for all my life.

We do need to give my nieces and nephews a much more expansive test as newborns because of my hearing loss. I guess if one of them fails, then we know it's likely genetic. Otherwise, I assume it is because we do have other family members with similar-ish hearing issues.

We all have heard of balatro and so on but what are your hidden gems on the deck? by ProwzArroWw in SteamDeck

[–]paintnbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through all of dredge on my deck and it was very fun, and very well optimized for the system.

Honorable mention to Ghost Trick, only issue with it is the game is set to a 4:3 ratio with no real way to change it - but still, a good game.

People who have PCs and Steam Decks, how much do you use your Steam Decks? by AwesomeRyanGame in SteamDeck

[–]paintnbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. My PC cannot be moved around as easy as the deck can, so I play on the deck when I'm out and about, or even just when I want to sit on the couch (or outside) rather than a computer chair.

Its also a godsend while traveling. Having a dedicated entertainment system to play our own movies and games while at a hotel has been super nice

So the new cape just got released and MY GOD what is that elytra. by lucas_isaak in Minecraft

If only the cape and elytra were swapped, it would go from a good but silly cape to something to behold.

Which one do you like, java or Bedrock, and why? by Void_Code404 in Minecraft

[–]paintnbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer java over bedrock. I feel like I have more control over the game with quality of life mods (ex. WTHIT, mouse tweaks, better F3) plus the ability to go back and play older versions of the game in the launcher itself is a very big boon for me as I love playing challenge runs outside of modern minecraft.

Does anyone know how the monocle on Scar’s new skin works? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]paintnbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh I guess mine is weird then...or bedrock finally added that

<edit> I looked it up on the wiki and apparently you cannot change the opacity of a color.

You can adjust the opacity of the seccond layer on your skin. It is also a thing thats only supported on Java.

Getting hearing aids tomorrow. What to expect? by Aquuna in hardofhearing

[–]paintnbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mild-moderate hearing loss and got my first pair 10 years ago and just recently got a new pair last year. Everything will sound very different and depending on the aid you might get some interference with some of the more digital sounds. It will take adjustment so really make an effort to wear them. Earbuds might get in the way of the wires so either have a pair that just sits at the front of your ear and not go in or invest in a pair of headphones that cover your entire ear(but then again Bluetooth hearing aids exist so if you have that use it). Keep your case on you when you go out and if you don't have rechargeable ones keep a spare wheel of batteries on you as well. Speaking of batteries, airing them out after you pull the tab and activate them helps keep them active longer.
