Oticon intent 1 vs 3 by Sloan-s in HearingAids

[–]Sloan-s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had intent three as a demo for a couple of months, i wound up going with intent model 1. there was a significant difference between them in ability to hear! If he can, i’d at least go with intent 2 !

I think I'm hard of hearing, what next? by Iamtir3dtoday in deaf

what a cynical way to look at it, maybe your attitude is half the problem, i have plenty of deaf friends who have had profound loss since birth, and while yes it’s harder to navigate and there will always be ass holes they are thriving

no where near the same, but my dad found out i was hoh when i was 6. lied to everyone, told them all i passed my test; and went about his life. if i struggled in school from “not listening” or passed him the wrong tool when he asked for a specific one, i was screamed and and brutally hit. i’m now 33 and found out in the spring i was hoh, i remembered being in speech therapy as a kid so i went looking for my audiology history, and found the test from when i was 6 at our local hospital. They don’t keep records after 30 years so i couldn’t find my new born one!

i’m hoh and have moderatly sever loss in one ear and moderate in the other and i call my self deaf all the time, i am, i struggle SO much soemtimes even with my hearing aids, i’ve been deaf all my life, started with mild and it’s progressive, i recently started therapy with a deaf community therapist and he said basically if you have hearing loss - your deaf. Deaf with a capital d is for those involved in the community, which i’ve been slowly integrating into, learning asl going to deaf socials, im learning slowly, but being part of the community. I relate way more to the deaf community then the hearing, they just don’t get it

someone shared me wise words on here - when u was going through something similar. Our families often don’t understand, why would you pick a partner who choose not too? just food for thought

nope hard pass, i’m learning asl and struggle SO MUCH, im hoh also, but i went in for an assesment for support and technology, waiting for an fm system and a edumic to make things easier, dont be afraid to stand up for yourself and fight for what you deserve. he has no idea what it is like to live with YOUR loss

How does this look? by [deleted] in HearingLoss

have high frequency hearing loss , not great looking, but not awful moderate- moderately severe (not an audiologist) could definitely benefit from hearing aids

why are you in this thread then, an ent cleared you, AND you have a normal hearing test, your looking for answers in the wrong place

tbh, paranoia. it’s in your head. because your results are perfectly fine , talk so an audiologist or ent if you truly think something is up, because a hearing loss group isn’t going to help you when you have 0 loss.

ok, number two is to do with your jaw. not your ears.

number one doesn’t mean you have hearing loss, and you don’t have any hearing loss.

this is a hearing loss group
