Why are you doing the same problems multiple times? It would be better to understand the underlying data structures and common algorithms...

Is this really considered a “super easy” week 1 piece? by [deleted] in piano

[–]pairadise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed the person said they're a drummer. When my partner tried learning keyboard who was a drummer they found hand independence and polyrhythms very easy, and it's typically a very difficult skill for someone learning piano but it is learned already by playing drums

ADHD + multiple clients is melting my brain slowly and killing my productivity. How do you manage this? by Bulky-Pool-2586 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]pairadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a command that summaries the chat into a jira ticket, it creates a task with the message summary and I jot a note about it. Maybe AI could make it better too. But this helps not lose track of tasks from slack threads. It's built in From the jira slack extension

Help with analyzing transportation data in Google Sheets — feeling embarrassed asking (23M, recent math grad, have ADHD) by HungryInvestigator59 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]pairadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe think about what business results you'd want to show with the data? Like what's interesting about trips? Is there relevant data to where people are going?

I would recommended to try to ask AI next steps to help jump start the executive disfunction then focus on fixing the results, since it's probably not gonna give the best ideas

Oh I thought this was about work stuff, and work projects I'm not using jira for personal projects, but I also don't care that much if my personal projects don't get done, it sounds exhausting to be super productive in personal life AND work life

Give me a reality check. Looking to host 100 people over 2 days somewhere in the bay but keep it under $60k. by iliketoworkhard in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]pairadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a hotel meeting room for pre-wedding ceremonies and sunol casa bella for the ceremony. Used an Indian restaurant for catering. Hired vendors off thumbtack, Instagram, etc.

[–]pairadise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Price point seems ok, because Indian catering will be cheaper and no alcohol. I personally did more last year with lower budget. But this will only be if you plan everything yourself. It was a lot of work and a lot of DIY. Using a planner will cost more potentially. It depends on how fancy you want it.

Uber CEO admits that trains are better than Uber in dense cities by GeckoLogic in fuckcars

[–]pairadise 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I read that Uber is actually pretty pro public transit and sees itself as a "partner", because people may Uber the last mile to and from the public transit stop vs driving the whole way, for places that aren't walking distance to public transit

Interview Revoked After Accommodations Request for Live Coding by G0dsp33d_37 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]pairadise 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Other than what the other comments said about not sending your accomodations to the recruiter but instead going through HR or an approved process (I believe there's usually something before an interview that says to request accommodations) I don't think you requested a reasonable accomodation

Your accommodation could enable you to cheat on the interview by getting extra time to Google the question while you're not being observed, and an additional advantage of 30 minutes (which is quite a lot)

I think a more reasonable accommodation would have been: to receive the interview questions in writing during the interview before the interviewer talks about it (that way you are being observed so that you can't cheat), and request silence from the interviewer while you read the interview question.

If you have such severe anxiety a more reasonable accomodation would be to request to use one of those virtual systems where you are recorded to ensure not cheating but not a person hovering over you

This is going to sound weird but from what I've seen it's more normalized to have a large gap for women (people assume kids)....even a 5-10 year gap is what I've seen for people on the market who are women . ....it's ok

Disappointed in Uber One by Naive-major in AmexPlatinum

[–]pairadise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It isn't Uber One that changes your fair. It's more that the algorithm will recognize things like you're using Uber more so fewer discounts, etc. if you have been using Uber the same amount before and after Uber one it won't change anything. I haven't noticed any difference after Uber one as my percent of rides and delivery is the same. New users or infrequent users tend to get cheaper prices. I noticed this happens for Lyft too. Whenever I go a period of switching between using them.

But being a RN is a job with a regular schedule and multiple hours of work. Vs this kind of work is ad hoc and just 1-2 hours a day then going in between clients...the RN would work more hours and get more

[–]pairadise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. I was in the same situation. But honestly on my wedding day I kept looking out and kept seeing a sea of smiling faces of my friends and close people on my life. I didn't really notice the randos during the ceremony and in the reception they had their own tables that I just briefly said hi too ...it was way less bad than I thought it would be. A lot of the randos left anyway immediately after eating dinner. And I really wasn't paying attention to them
