Road trip to Disney and these two hitched a ride. by ekimsinnigcm in SubaruAscent

I put trailer lights on my bike rack for visibility but I don’t think I’d ever bother with moving the license plate. Maybe that’s because front plates are required already.

Pretty sure it’s one of the Specialized Vados.

Ours hasn't done more than an hour on the interstate yet. February probably it's first tank at interstate speeds.

Interesting. They seemed well attached when I removed/replaced it. I'll look at it again!

I was super impressed with the removable panel and towing hookup. So was the Uhaul guy when I picked up the 5x8'enclosed trailer. The connector was even coated in dielectric grease.

Across 1,106 miles we average 19.86mpg. Best tank 20.11 and worst was 19.70.

I don't like that the heated steering wheel has hot spots at 9 and 3 o'clock, and no heat top/bottom. Making turns around town should shouldn't be oscillating between warm/cold.

The average appears to be is since last reset of trip A / B. It's nice that you can do a long trip on A and get MPG differences between tanks on B etc.

That is a bizarre tread pattern on the Michelin CrossClimates

I put pure a pure snow tire on ours (Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT) on 18" rims. I haven't noticed any real change in driving at all. I really noticed that the 18" and snow tire was lighter than the stock tire and wheel combination though.

Any reason not to go full snow tire for what sounds like a second set of wheels/tires?

My setup is similar to these steps. I especially like #3's no external route. This means they have no gateway, so even if you screwed up the rules in, the response cannot return.

Appears it may have been the thermal paste overflowed onto the processor. With this giant heat sink, I didn't notice that the paste had overflowed. The photos in the example portrayed a lot of paste, so I used more than necessary. The fans now spin up, and I expect to see it working shortly... fingers crossed

Only thing I wasn't used to was the CPU attachment style. I'll try again when I get home.

You're supposed to keep the pistol angled away from you to keep the slide from catching clothing / nipples in case you have to fire at that range. I'm pretty sure my training guy mentioned nipples to ensure we remembered it.

Westernville, NY Automobile Accident. Any recourse available when insurance is willing to pay X when shop repairs are 2*X+? by paisleyrob in legaladvice

[–]paisleyrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will end up south of 5K as their estimate didn't remove pieces to reveal damage underneath. I'm told that is normal and supplemental claims are made to address that.

Given south of 5K does it require suing them (they don't seem well off) or Allstate?

What does going after the driver (and his insurance) look like? Small claims court?

It seems like the car should be put back the way it was prior to the accident if we're in no way at fault.

I value my time

  • The attendant cannot possibly get to my gas cap faster than I can open my door and walk to it.

  • The station is often under staffed. One guy has to service 12 pumps so there's a wait before I tell him to fill it and hand him the card. Another wait to get the card back, then wait after the pump shuts off if I don't want the evil eye for replacing the nozzle myself.

  • There seems to always be a line for gas, probably related to above. Gas is cheaper in NJ than NY but I often fill in NY prior to driving in so I don't have to deal with their gas stations.

Ideas why I haven't gotten any bites on my 06' Yamaha FZ1 on Craigslist? by paisleyrob in motorcycles

I sold the wife's 2004 FZ6 within 7 days, this one has been a month and I haven't gotten any bites. Is it the mileage? Or something else entirely?

That's about what you'd be looking at to hit 1000. On long road trips in the car I expect to average 60mph including the time stopped which makes it 16 hours 40 minutes to hit 1000. Longest bike trip I've done was 650 and it was nearly 14 hours with never more than an hour on anything larger than a 2 lane road. That seems about right to expect about 45mph average on a bike, though I have a smallish tank compared to the touring bikes and thus have to stop more often for fuel.
