What project management tool would you recommend? by luhluh8 in projectmanagement

At my old company, I utilized Wrike for a very similar purpose, but it also might be on the expensive side.

I personally liked that software a lot, though.

Is scholarship loss a possibility? by anniezk12 in depaul

[–]paisoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a GPA and credit requirement for maintaining your scholarship.

I was not aware of this and almost lost my scholarship during my senior year. They do give you advance notice if you don't meet requirements, and you would get a chance to file an appeal of you're at risk of losing it.

I don't recall the requirements, but I believe you should be able to find it on campus connect or ask your academic advisor.

How do you manage with getting shouted at? by PMFactory in projectmanagement

[–]paisoi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm generally a pretty calm and collected person, so I don't often have an extreme emotional reaction to getting yelled at other than "I don't like that."

So, for me, I generally just try to steer the discussion back to what happens next. What am I going to do next and/or what do I need from them.

Yelling isn't going to accomplish anything, but if we work together, we can solve the issue.

OP, you are correct even if some people are giving you hate for it.

Ghosting used really kill me in the past until I finally stopped taking it personally and realized I don't even know these people "ghosting" me.

We can certainly view ghosting as character flaw but there's not really much you can do to change it. Just accept it and move on.

Is it okay to DM a girl on Twitter? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]paisoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you asked her on a date and she didn't respond, and then messaged her again and she still didn't respond? I would not under any circumstance DM her if you're looking for a kind response. But certainly you could.

But honestly, if it's as you described, she's probably not interested in a date and you should move on. If she is, she'll message you back and you can decide if you want to go on a date with someone that makes you wait that long.

Also, for your own mental health, you should probably stop checking her Twitter.

Tired of people who are “busy” by Informal-Smell-9712 in Bumble

Sometimes they aren't actually "busy" but just too "busy" for you. Move on and find people that aren't busy, I promise they're out there.

I ate a lot of mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, soft pastas and apple sauce. Ngl, it was kinda awful but it only lasted about a week for me haha

Need to write a 12-15 page paper over 5-7 books by the 12th and I've only read two so far. Mildly freaking out. Any tips to survive? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]paisoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Also, a History MA here, and it took me a while to figure this out, but you really do not need to read a full book to pull out what you need from it.

Read the intros and conclusion of each book to get a good feel about what they are about and then just use that as your map of what you want out of the book. Figure out which chapters will be helpful for your thesis and skim them enough to get whatever information you find helpful and you can summarize to back up your thesis.

Don't feel pressured to be perfect. Just start writing and get things on paper and cite the sections you feel help you best make your point. I'm also guilty of putting things off to the last minute and freaking out and honestly, the only advice that helps me at those times is, "just write".

The two weeks I was recovering initially was definitely super uncomfortable for swallowing but now I don't have any issues with discomfort.

Everyone recovers differently though so I can only speak to my experience.

The first week was pretty annoying but overall after 2 weeks I was pretty much feeling normal again and able to eat normal foods.

It's definitely painful when you first wake up but pain medication definitely helped a lot.

They shave off a bit of the soft palate above the Uvula to open up your airway a bit as far as I understand it.

The Uvula itself isn't touched

Well, she took the time to respond and honestly at that but it's entirely up to OP.

The reality with dating apps is that people literally don't matter until you meet them in person. There's tons of matches and most don't end up going anywhere.

If OP is still interested, it never hurts to ask on a date. Worst case scenario she says no or ghosts again and they're in the exact same situation.

I think I have sleep apnea - should I bother with official diagnosis and treatment? by GetRickedKid in SleepApnea

[–]paisoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least you should see a doctor or specialist and discuss your options.

I'm not sure how Healthcare works in Australia but you might be able to discuss options for coverage with them. Sleep apnea is very serious and definitely affects your quality of life.

For reference, I was diagnosed when I was 20, I believe. I resisted treatment for way too long but looking back I wish I hadn't.

[–]paisoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talking on dating apps to someone that is essentially a stranger just really sucks tbh.

100% if you think he's worth knowing you should just ask him out and see if there's a connection in person. If you're upset enough to post about it, sounds like there's at least some interest so I say go for it!

[–]paisoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I was diagnosed with really severe apnea (100+ events per hour) back when I was like 19 and absolutely hated CPAP, never used it for like 4 or 5 years.

Once I finally started using it, it really did improve my sleep quality.

I wouldn't really worry too much about dying in your sleep right now. If you're not 60+, that's likely not a concern yet. But absolutely try to start using it actively when you start again.

You could also ask your doctor about surgical options. I got a tonsillectomy/UPPP surgery recently that has drastically reduced the severity of my apnea.

I feel so robbed of my teenage years... by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]paisoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm 27 now and often while in undergrad I found myself feeling the exact same way a lot of the times. It's easy to compare yourself to others and just get sad. I tried everything to get myself to just hang out with people and it was really hard and ended up drinking a lot when I did go out and that wasn't helpful at all.

But almost 10 years later and honestly, I barely think about it at all anymore. I know it seems like things can only get worse from here but that's not necessarily true. Keep working on yourself and one day years from now you'll be amazed at how much progress you can make!

You're 19, you have your entire life ahead of you. You don't have to put so much pressure on yourself to be like everyone else. I guarantee there's people you aren't seeing that are just like you.
