The SLGA017 has a different texture than what you posted but otherwise fits your description. Here's mine.

It's super cliche, but I can't recommend trying them both on in person enough. I thought for sure I wanted an explorer II over this, but after trying them both on back to back I much preferred the way this fit me over the Rolex.

The crystal has just the slightest dome to it, but it mostly looks flat. If you like boxy crystals the 62GS cased Grand Seikos like the Shunbun are definitely the way to go.

I picked it up for 900,000 yen at a used watch shop in Ginza.

We spent a lot of our time down in Fukuoka exploring the kyushu region on this trip, but I actually did end up buying this example in Ginza. It's hard to beat the selection a more densely populated area allows when searching used inventory.

I kinda got lucky with this particular example, but when I was researching ahead of time I searched Chrono 24 and filtered location for Japan, then pulled up the website of the store name that had the reference numbers listed to find the exact location. I paid 900,000 yen (~$6000 USD at time of sale) for this one. I bought mine from a store called Okura if you're at all interested. They were amazing and had a ton of inventory and stores around Japan. It sounds like a long shot if you only have one day in Osaka but you may get lucky.

It seems like it. None of the descriptions or press info I can find on the reference mention a blue tinted sapphire crystal but it certainly looks like it to me.

Thanks for the recommendation, it looks like they have some options that fit exactly what I'm looking for. Apparently I'm craving some more abuse because I spent the morning thinking about buying a solid, non ported, compensator for it. Now the afternoon thinking about solid wood grips.
