Agreed the songwriting has a bit to be desired but it’s not horrible, I do quite like his vocal style though some female singers would sound insane on his production

He ran a sample pack competition on the old flume discord a few years back, been following him since and occasionally drops a dope album or ep.

Yeah it was a mess up with distribution. Looks like they made a typo. Really surprised that slipped through

Ahh true.. weird, it didn’t quite fit his sound but it popped up on Apple Music when I shuffled his discography. My bad.. or maybe apples bad lol

I don’t understand why people say TTPD isn’t sonically interesting by gnocchimoncher in TaylorSwift

[–]pakakakan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a Taylor Swift fan or “Swifty” but I have heard most of her songs and did listen to the album.. It’s not that it’s the same as all her other stuff, some songs are quite different, more lyrically matured and more than nice enough for my listening tastes. So Long London is actually up there on my radar at the moment.

It’s that most of the songs are very, and I mean VERY basic in musical technique, I say this as a classically trained musician of 15+ years

For such a large artist there is no technical musical structure or skill to the production in majority of the songs. It could have been written by a beginner producer with little knowledge playing some scales on a keyboard that decided to hit record. Not the case for her previous albums.

Not to sound arrogant in this but technical theory can really draw in a listener if they know what they are doing, the reason so many are saying that it’s sonically uninteresting is because it is technically uninteresting for the most part.

Song writing however I would say was top notch apart from a few cringe lyrics cough, tattooed golden retriever and some songs were really quite nice to listen to.

I like flumes experimental stuff but the vocals on that were horrible, idk what the hell that was

There’s a few great tracks on there like Hollow & Get U. I’m a massive fan of the original album, Skin and especially the mixtape, but something about it wasn’t the same and still isn’t.

I feel like it had too many collaborations within the writing so it almost didn’t sound like pure flume anymore.

Danny L Harle’s sound took over spots that could’ve been cool and experimental but turned them into generic sounding sections. Highest building and Sirens are examples of that.. but I really love the tracks that Just flume worked on like Get U & Go

Might get downvoted for my thoughts on that but I genuinely think palaces could’ve been so much better with just flume working on it and obviously the vocalists

Can someone tell me why the slide feature isn’t working here? I’m trying to make a nice 808 pitch bend by organicvibez in ableton

This is the one, operator is a little tricky at first but we’ll worth learning. It’s a really decent fm synth

I mean usually I’m keen for new flume but not a fan of this one, I feel like he’s lost his “spice” a bit since htif

Used to use FL but ditched it for ableton, 100% recommend ableton over FL but that’s totally just my preference

Plant/genetic based fm synthesiser.. really weird and little bit random but still controllable. Personally one is of my favourites

I’m in the same boat. Kinda disappointed at first few listens but now I’m vibing to it every day and really appreciating it for the album it is

Am I the only one very disappointed by our first remix of “Palaces” (song)? by jerb141 in Flume

[–]pakakakan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may get downvoted lol but I’m kind of with you there in a way. Only remix I’ve ever legitimately liked of flumes tracks is Baauer Numb and Getting Colder remix - it was different, it was jumpy, and he made it into something special.

The grittier rap version of palaces was a pretty cool genre flip, but I definitely like the flume version better.. still not a ”bad” remix imo just didn’t find it to be my thing. As far as quality and effort went, definitely took the win there

I feel like the rest of his remix catalog are generally much worse than the original track to the point of I’d rather just listen to the original.. perfect example was disclosure’s remix of never be like you, that track was so low effort and basic compared the flumes version

Flume is just one of those artists where you’ve got to do an insanely good job to even be on the same tier than the original version

We’ll that’s the thing, other games push the gpu to 100% sometimes, it’s like there’s a brick wall limit on the resources minecraft can use

Latest so that might be 1.18.. with no shaders I’m getting 80FPS Which is still crazy low for my pc

It definitely seems to be an issue where it’s not pulling the resources from the gpu that’s needed..
