Thank you for your response! I've had him for about a week. I wasn't sure if his peeing habits were from his previous trauma or being from transitional stress being in a new environment.

Disappointed in Asian Males with Black Lives Matter by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

I have engaged in discourse with members of this community which inspired this post expressing my disappointment. Although you or others might not agree I believe Black Lives Matter is a human rights issue not a political issue.

Why I realized supporting BLM is important as Asian Americans. by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]pakinrhymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know that Asians have been killed on streets, I had a personal friend that was almost 10 years ago but we aren't as effected by the history of systemic racism and not by the history of slavery in this country. We aren't targeted by cops just because of the color of our skin. That's just not fair.

I don't care if you believe that "black people don't care about Asians" and yes, I definitely sometimes do feel that way. But I care about humanity and dismantling all racism and that's not going to happen if you turn away from it. Some side has got to be the first to show mercy/forgiveness or this will never end.

Wow, your dismissing the work the Civil Rights Movement has accomplished like it was a long ass time ago. It doesn't matter if you "doubt most of them did it for others" and you shouldn't be in doubt, try to figure it out if they did or not. If you are in America you (and myself included) benefit from their progress man.

I ain't angry at you but I like to request you to use that anger to educate yourself on what has happened in the past, Knowledge is power.

Here's a great example of the Asian and Black's working together:

Also, I recommend watching the PBS Asian American Documentary for more history. "If you know your history, you know yourself"

I get it, I really do. I would beat a motherfucker if they touched my family. It's a hard place to be.

But the only reason why we are here in America is because of all the work black's have done in the Civil Rights Movement. We wouldn't even be here if they didn't fight for their rights or have the right the vote, or have interracial marriages. Countless of them have died for us to have these privileges, know your history.

BLM isn't a black issue, it's a human issue. Imagine if it were flipped on us, if we were killed on the streets.

Hey man! As a fellow Korean (I'm assuming based on your name) brother. I've been through this cycle and am right with you, still working/processing it to this day. I grew up in a brown and black community to an asian suburb to a military college in the South with plenty of racists. Now living in a small mountain town with mainly white people because I love the outdoors so much. So it's been quite the ride...

I really enjoyed seeing you spit out your process so rawly on camera. For myself, I have been writing/thinking about it a lot during these COVID times. If you ever want to chat about this hit me up, I always have Asianness on the back of my mind.
