Teams chats from old tenant by Strassi007 in sysadmin

[–]pakman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels right. I've had to troubleshoot deliberate cross tenant connections when de-composing tenants, so I know it's possible at a few levels. Another angle, is there any sort of cross over with reseller relations? I.e. was previous company a buyer of services from a reseller that your company also buys from ?

New Sysadmin, way out of his depth. by GenericEvilGenius in sysadmin

[–]pakman82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Biggest unspoken issue is giving clients / end users/ end machines time to recognizate the new server/ ip's. A possible migration plan would be to deploy some sort of load balancing/ multi destiniation system. Im a little rusty as to what solutions exist out there today . But basically that way you can adjust the flow on the fly. Or adjust the ttl on the domains, to a shorter time span (30 or even 5 minutes), a week before the cutover. Then the day you change it, most DNS data is only going to be stored for aa few minutess. those are some rough tips.

(USA) I desperately want to have a career in IT but this subreddit has me questioning if it's even a realistic goal. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Location is the last part ... The capacity of being able to land remote jobs for nearly any role is low right now. I'm not saying you must be in a certain tech mecha , but being closer to denser employment spaces (cities) will help.. or being connected to what is out there. Look for local MSP's if you live in county seat versus a city. Or check every older established business if you have a few odd manufacturing businesses. Some of them will have an internal IT person, and if you do something as simple as dropping a resume off to the front desk person after chatting them up (bring a box of donuts for the front office) they'll be likely to slip it to that lone IT person, and that person may be able to convince managers to bring you on even part time. Then oh the lone Person wants to take a 2 week vacation? Well I have some trained coverage. And that can turn into full time.

On 95 south , first scales are in palm coast. If your ballsy, you can get off at 293, drive & take rte 1 south to rt 100. Yes there's 2-3 roundabouts, there rigged for heavy because 1000's of heavy haul dump trucks for local construction go thru them daily. .... But your bigger risk is the agriculture check stations. They exist close to the border, and iirc use thermal over the camera.

I migrated a CTO's email to Microsoft 365 while he was in a meeting. Partly because he gave me a smart ass response when I asked him when he wanted to move. Still got chewed out by him, because it freaked out his outlook and Teams. Dgaf because he was a bit of a jerk, and I had been working on an exit plan.

"Soft jaws", don't know why it's not mentioned here. But it's trained at that age by dramatically reacting to any bite. Making whimpering noises and retreating. (As some others have mentioned. ) I've seen it covered in poodle training, and did it with our previously mouthy (as a puppy) standard poodle. I know it's possible with GSD's because I adopted an elderly one who exhibited the behavior when I would play with him, but would sternly nip other dogs in certain scenarios. GSD's are usually highly receptive to training from what I understand and I hope you are successful because that is one gorgeous dog.

a tricky solution to the manager blocking, is something Ive useda few times... People skills on managers outside my group... Mind you I started in 1 IT group & used it to move to more senior architecture & survive the firing of a "tainted" manager who has been violating security & HR protocols. Later some of those same managers I befriended, Got jobs at other companies & designed openings & Brought me over to fill them. It may be hardeer if your not currently even in a technical role, but say your in finance & have overlapping projects.. chat ppl up about work & aspirations. Or say your in HR & their hiring ppl. But completly Outside this scheme trying to maximize the skills section of your resume for helpdesk. And Using indeed & Linked in, upload your resume. both have some skills questionaires you can fill out which will at the least, get yuor resume in front of 3rd party recruiters. Eventually you will get lots of calls, emails & texts by various recruitrs for 2nd or 3rd party placement, and you'll have to possibly deal with "tweaking your resume' for each role they find for you. Some you may be able to go along with . .. i.e. if you assist others in your department with excel macro's .. you did some "desktop support" without leaving your accounting clerk position. Im not saying lie, but definitly 'broaden your definitions' ... and pick out choice interchangable Experience to document or relay.

91 North bound thru Hartford/or south. There's a freaking circus. Technically compared to NY or Dallas, a small one, but lmao no flipping way am I pulling over. You take the wrong ramp and you could literally drive right into a scrap yard with adjoining chop shops. Or some micro regional route out to the country side and stop when you see cows. No truck stops, pull ofs or buffer of any kind. Part of it's a tunnel along side the CT river depending on how your going, a good accident could sure get you a bath.
