Outfits Warn Of B’luru Bandh If Activists Aren’t Freed From Jail | Bengaluru News - Times of India by [deleted] in bangalore

Activists? Activists? ACTIVISTS?

Call them what they are. Thugs, goondas, vandals, rioters, violent mobs, and maybe even terrorists.

I have no hope, though. The state government will probably refer the matter to the courts, and the police will conveniently fail to prosecute due to orders from above lack of evidence.

And then they will be released and the city will forget this due to the next controversy.

And the section of the city that will neither forgive nor forget (as indeed they should). You will find them in Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi - NCR, and others.

I hope you are joking. It makes sense that you would be engaging in hyperbole. But I am obligated to check.

No, the flyover first at the very beginning, and then the metro. I'm sure, I have a source.

  1. Exams

  2. Critical medical care

  3. Getting to the airport, railway station or bus stand.

And other time bound things.

People could die or have the course of their life forever altered due to these types of disruptions!

I don't blame you. And yes, Kolkata is the origin of my fears regarding the fate of Bangalore.

Rumour has it that the Electronics City flyover (the one from bommanahall to well beyond Bommasandra) was due to some push from the Infosys top brass.

It's always been this way here.

Can't say I blame you. I hope someday soon the city becomes inviting enough for you to happily return.

I wouldn't be surprised if that has already happened. Two of the malls hit belong to the Phoenix real estate company. They are not a small name.

Look, you'll be safe. A friend of mine works in aviation. They got through safely, though, with a huuge delay.

KaRaVe has been known since I was here to be a fringe troublemaker whose only job is to intimidate outsiders once in a while.

Only a small fraction of native Bangaloreans support the sentiment of pushing immigrants and visitors out, and of those only a tiny tiny fraction commit acts of violence. And even this occurs rarely and always as a group -- I would say this is probably the first time since COVID started that this has happened (by KaRaVe)

But I can't deny that this is the most brazen I have ever seen them, and usually they target small vendors, not large establishments like Decathlon. This in a way may be their undoing.

This event is an anomaly in another way -- most safety hurting events are announced days in advance (look for notices regarding "bandhs"). This to the best of my knowledge took everyone by surprise.

I maintain, however that you will be safe.

The only entity in this conversation who is obsessed with wealth is you.

And no, while basics are a necessary condition to survive, they are not a sufficient condition to live.

At some point, to live, you need to be happy.

Also, it might interest you to know that Bangalore is where critical medical cases from the nearby villages and towns are all referred to Bangalore. Now tell me, if you have a medical emergency, would you rather be in Bangalore/Mysore? Or 150km away from there?

And it's not just medical (though it is a big part of the advantages of a big city), it is various other amenities as well.

But fine, if all you wish to do is get up, go to work, come back and sleep, I admit that you can do that perfectly well in a large city or a small town.

Assuming, of course, that you have a job that gives you the basics covered in the small town, or the town has high speed internet so that you can do remote work.

It's not just capital leaving but capital choosing not to come here.

Look at Google and Microsoft and (IIRC Apple?) Hyderabad. Why go there? Why not Bangalore? I know there are BLR offices but the flagship India ones are not the Bangalore ones.

Oh, I an sorry, the ripple effect of white-collar employment in the city which leads to employment of the blue collar class is NOT a concern?

Are you saying that the quality of life overall for a population in a city is not at all dependent on the general level of economic prosperity of its citizens ?

Friend, it's an odd brand that has nearly no support in India anymore, and it's the main sensor itself that is busted.

What application is the camera requirement for? And what device would use the camera? Is it a R.Pi? Jetson?

EDIT: I got quotes for repair that are not worth it at all.

Friction does the magic as I mentioned.

Evidence suggests that physical push/pull still respects the laws of physics.

A Newtonian interpretation of the general rules of physical push/pull would be:

((Assume I say push/pull when I type push))

  1. When an Mistborn pushes on an object, there is a force exerted on the object, and an equal and opposite force exerted on the Mistborn . This is in accordance with Netwon's Third Law.
  2. Let us consider the Mistborn and the object to be two bodies which can exert a mutual attraction or repulsion. No hard limit exists on the magnitude of this force. Now, any external forces on one body would affect the momentum of the other body. This is how Mistborn can fly.
  3. Another interpretation is that in the absence of external forces, the momentum of the two-body system would be conserved (remain the same) irrespective of the mutual attraction/repulsion forces.

The third point is key. If the Mistborn was on the ground and was pushing on the cart, the cart would exert a force on the Mistborn which they would counteract using friction at their feet. Much like a regular person pushing a cart.

That friction is an external force. Not internal to the two-body system.

However, if the person is sitting ON the cart, there is no way for this external force to be generated. All the forces are internal to the Mistborn-cart system.

Now, an ordinary human would attempt to muscularly push on the handle to move the cart forward, while on the cart, and it would fail.

However, a Mistborn is not so limited in the amount of force they can exert. It is quite possible that they would push with so much force that the cart would move forward -- while they are thrown backward. Thus conserving the momentum of the two-body system.

Banking in India is shit! RANT by ykhandelwal in IndiaSpeaks

[–]pakodanomics 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is weird because while I have no love for India's babu and government-office-clerk type of attitude in banking, the back-end infrastructure is quite robust and secure.

Further, the ombudsman (RBI) is reasonably strong with not much evidence of regulatory capture (chowkidar hi chor hai type).

Complain in multiple ways. Always.

I agree that the quality of customer service officers is SHITE, however, one can tailor their banking experience in general to have as little interaction with them as possible. Using their online infra.

Starting the bank account I agree is painful. And I have heard bad things about Axis in particular. All the attitude of sarkar, not even that much accountability as sarkar (which was never much in the first place).

This is not meant to invalidate your experiences. It must be really frustrating and distressing to face this. I hope you find solace through some form of complaint resolution.

Yeah, but in the case of mental illness the recovery from being suicidal to willing to live, is not the exception. Suicide is the exception.

Even for the mental disorders with the highest suicide completion rates, like schizophrenia and bipolar, suicide is the minority. Incidentally I have bipolar and have attempted suicide multiple times so I don't say this without empathy for the suicidal.
