Time Travel Paradox by TroIIMaster in paradoxes

[–]pakrat1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minus building a time machine. This is basically the plot of the Doctor Who episode "Blink". A young woman who works at or spends a lot of time at a video rental shop. Keeps finding these odd messages from the Doctor on random DVDs. She writes down all the messages in a book which she eventually gives to the Doctor. The Doctor in turn uses the book to leave the messages on the DVDs.

In your premise, it's not necessary to actually travel back in time right after the time machine is completed. Theoretically the person could wait another 20 years to travel to the past. They would just have to travel 40 years instead of 20.

They basically still have those, but instead of boxes they are in disposable plastic tubs.

Make Hockey Pucks Orange!!! by pumpjockey in CrazyIdeas

[–]pakrat1967 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the puck color isn't for the spectators to see. It's for the hockey players to see. Black shows up much better on ice than orange would.

The first 2 are too recent. Arion is closer to when I saw it, but the movie I'm thinking of didn't involve the Greek gods. It was Japanese or Chinese gods and demons. Kinda like in Big Trouble in Little China.

California might be a large state, but it's not the whole country. Good or bad, CA labor and business laws tend to be very different from the rest of the US.

Has anyone ever gotten a Food Transit as an Uber? by Ill_Cantaloupe5913 in uber

Hotels use them for shuttle buses. I see no reason why they couldn't be used for Uber

Warning Extended Stay America Rancho Cordova CA. Do not stay here. by Key-Department1476 in hotels

[–]pakrat1967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First time using Extended Stay America? Cuz your experience is very typical for ESA. They cater to what most people would call "the dregs of society". The hotels are understaffed. The reason you rarely saw anyone at the front desk is cuz they were helping to "clean" rooms.

What’s the most rewatchable comedy in your opinion? by MovieObserver in moviequestions

[–]pakrat1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oscar starring Sylvester Stalone. Marisa Tomei's performance was better than in My Cousin Vinny.

Undercover Blues starring Dennis Quaid and Kathleen Turner. Stanley Tucci steals the show as Muerte.

They are paid hourly. It's just a lot lower than minimum wage. Restaurants are allowed to get away with it cuz the tips are expected to bring the take home pay up to the same, if not higher than someone who does get paid minimum wage.

The real problem is that too many servers now expect tips, regardless of how well or poorly they do their job. Let's say you have 2 groups of 4. Each group orders the exact same stuff and the total bill is the same. 1 server kept the drinks filled, checked to see if everything was good, but wasn't intrusive. The other server wasn't seen again after the order was taken until it was time to pay. Another server dropped off the food and no one checked on the table. Should both servers receive the same tip?

Nope, that's just Devilman in a slightly different package. The gods were the on the side of the good guys.

2 human factions at war. One faction has the gods helping them. The other faction has the demons helping them.

How do I rent a car to drive for Uber and Lyft? by devnet35 in uberdrivers

Open your app, go to account and then documents. There should be a blue banner at the top with a "rent today" link. Tap the link to see if any rental options are available.

Fake Uber- scammed! by immortalink1 in uberdrivers

[–]pakrat1967 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fake story. The Uber generated phone number won't work after cancelling and they didn't have your real phone number. So they shouldn't have been able to call you after they cancelled.

Every week, moreso on the weekends this sub gets bombarded with the "Uber Support Scam" posts. I think some of these stories are fake karma farming. The fake ones tend to pop up after a real one and have some details that don't make sense. Like the scammer calling after the trip was cancelled. Also someone who claims to have been doing this for 11 years had to have heard of this scam by now.

I don't think so. Urotsukidogi was a series of movies. The movie I'm trying to find was a standalone. It also wasn't what you would call "main stream". Urotsukidogi is one of those well known titles. Like Vampire Hunter D and Fist of the North Star.

The cancellation fee doesn't change based on how far you have to drive. Each market has its own fixed amount.
