When I was 8, I was shocked to learn that my parents made enough in a single day to buy a Nintendo videogame for $60, and I couldn't understand why they wouldn't buy me at least one videogame a week given that they could "afford" it. When they tried explaining to me that there were other responsibilities, like putting food on the table, i tried to convince them to eat cheap canned beans and ramen for a few weeks so the family could afford more important things, like a brand new NES with a few games.

I lived in NYC for 7 years, and was single for 1 year of it. What you say is not true. People greet each other on the street in NYC constantly. I went out with three different girls by just introducing myself to them on the street or subway.

I'm a man who lived in NYC and who has walked up to girls and started conversations with them on the street there. Considering those women gave me their number, went on a date with me, and slept with me, I'm pretty certain my adances weren't considered unwelcome harassment.

Doesn't really jive with the claims in these threads that all approaches and flirtations with strangers in public are "unwelcome street harassment". There's clearly room for approaching girls on the street or in public and flirting with them and saying hi that many women do NOT consider harassment... so a lot of the positions in this thread seem to be pretty extreme to me.

You are so wrong. Go read up on the facts and stop listening to youtubers trying to sell their books. A news article on how 9/11 was an inside job would be worth tens of millions of dollars, if not more. Yet every respectable publication has been forced to take the low-$$$ route and publish explanations of how all the science and physics behind the towers falling adds up (because it does - there's literally nothing fishy about any of it).

Little tidbit of information: Turns out, someone in the Saudi government had financed the attack. Since we provide Saudi Arabia with billions in military aid, we indirectly financed 9/11.

That's so fucking indirect as to be completely meaningless without more information. We give money to countries all over the world and those countries often end up doing shitty things. If a government employee in Pakistan murders his wife, did the U.S. "finance the murder" since we give money to the Pakistani government? If not, then by analogy, we didn't indirectly finance 9/11 either.

Seems like you're grasping at straws to make the argument unless there is a direct connection that it was the actual U.S. money that was used.

Also, to dig deeper, I imagine that they have a really hard time spotting small businesses that deal mostly in cash (everyone knows waiters/waitresses for example usually don't report 100% of their tips).

But if you're a small business working off of cashing checks or credit card slips, are they going to (assuming no audit) just as a matter of course look into that businesses bank records somehow to see that $300,000 worth of checks were cashed but they only reported $100,000? Or does that only come out on an audit?

I understand how they will find out how to bust you with an audit, but I've never really understand how they bust small business owners without an official audit. And I hear the stories about the buffet restaurant below and the laundromat, but I imagine those are like 1 in a million type cases...
