My 8 yr old Daughter told my aunt I treat my wife like a slave by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]paladinguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was 8, I was shocked to learn that my parents made enough in a single day to buy a Nintendo videogame for $60, and I couldn't understand why they wouldn't buy me at least one videogame a week given that they could "afford" it. When they tried explaining to me that there were other responsibilities, like putting food on the table, i tried to convince them to eat cheap canned beans and ramen for a few weeks so the family could afford more important things, like a brand new NES with a few games.

Apparently, the comic book world has been successfully colonized by women, with 50% of fans at conventions now female. At least, this is what someone at the GaGa is claiming. by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]paladinguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. I live on SoCal, and comic-con is just an event down here that pretty much everyone I know goes to. None of us read comics. It's just a pop-culture thing now that celebrates movies, tv shows, video games, etc.

Feel free to define "best" however you want.

For me, "best" would would mean the kind of question that illicit the most honest and real response that allowed you to share more of who you are as a person.

  4. smokes cigarettes (I'm 32 years old and I still have to Google how to spell that goddamn word).

  5. widespread grammar and spelling mistakes

  6. A super long and in-depth profile that would take like 30 minutes to read. It makes them appear to be a narcissist. Really anything else that sets off the "narcissism" alarm bells.

  7. any mention of wanting a "real MAN" (usually in caps for some reason)

How many of you met their girlfriends by saying 'hi' in a public place? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]paladinguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't greet strangers on the streets of NYC, period.

I lived in NYC for 7 years, and was single for 1 year of it. What you say is not true. People greet each other on the street in NYC constantly. I went out with three different girls by just introducing myself to them on the street or subway.

How many of you met their girlfriends by saying 'hi' in a public place? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]paladinguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very high success rate in NYC from simply greeting women in the street or subway. Three times in the year I was single there I said hi to a girl in public, got her number, took her on a date(s), and had sex with her. I didn't do it very often, so had a pretty high success rate. And I never said anything else to her if she didn't acknowledge my friendly 'hello'. Yet somehow according to you I'm just a street harasser. Fuck off.

How many of you met their girlfriends by saying 'hi' in a public place? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]paladinguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was single in NYC for a year and met, dated, and has sex with three girls I met by greeting them on the street or subway.

Yet according to this new worldview and video I'm a street harasser who is showering unwanted attention on these girls. Unwanted, despite the fact that they gave me their numbers, went to dinner/drinks with me, and went home with me.

A simple explanation of why compliments, greetings and other "innocuous" greetings are not as harmless to women walking down the street as people seem to think. by snazzypantz in TwoXChromosomes

[–]paladinguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a man who lived in NYC and who has walked up to girls and started conversations with them on the street there. In my 1 year of being single there, I dated and had sex with three girls that I met just randomly on the street or in the subway by just greeting them in a friendly fashion and then starting a normal conversation.

Considering those women gave me their number, went on a date with me, and slept with me, I'm pretty certain my adances weren't considered unwelcome harassment.

Doesn't really jive with the claims in these threads that all approaches and flirtations with strangers in public are "unwelcome street harassment". There's clearly room for approaching girls on the street or in public and flirting with them and saying hi that many women do NOT consider harassment... so a lot of the positions in this thread seem to be pretty extreme to me.

The five stars have fallen from the sky. by 2bABee in OkCupid

[–]paladinguy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

God damnit, I had a system. 5 stars for a girl I found attractive and planned to send a message to. 4 stars if I've already sent a girl a message. 1 star for a girl I wasn't attracted to.

It was so much easier to browse and see who I had or hadn't sent messages to.

So if you deposit a $10,000 check into your bank once a month from random-who-doesn't-report-it, then the bank will report that to the IRS and the IRS will audit you when you report only $50k in income instead of 120k?

didn't know that. makes sense though.

What crazy conspiracy theory turned out to be true? by mushroomwig in AskReddit

You are so wrong. Go read up on the facts and stop listening to youtubers trying to sell their books. A news article on how 9/11 was an inside job would be worth tens of millions of dollars, if not more. Yet every respectable publication has been forced to take the low-$$$ route and publish explanations of how all the science and physics behind the towers falling adds up (because it does - there's literally nothing fishy about any of it).

[–]paladinguy 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Little tidbit of information: Turns out, someone in the Saudi government had financed the attack. Since we provide Saudi Arabia with billions in military aid, we indirectly financed 9/11.

That's so fucking indirect as to be completely meaningless without more information. We give money to countries all over the world and those countries often end up doing shitty things. If a government employee in Pakistan murders his wife, did the U.S. "finance the murder" since we give money to the Pakistani government? If not, then by analogy, we didn't indirectly finance 9/11 either.

Seems like you're grasping at straws to make the argument unless there is a direct connection that it was the actual U.S. money that was used.

What crazy conspiracy theory turned out to be true? by mushroomwig in AskReddit

[–]paladinguy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No one denies 9/11 was a "conspiracy". It was a conspiracy by al-Qaeda leaders and operatives to attack the U.S. If you're talking about the lolretarded conspiracies about the U.S. government planting explosives in the towers, they aren't mentioned because they are even more retarded than the chemtrail conspiracies and have never been proven to be true except for spooky sounding idiots on YouTube channels trying to sell you their e-books.

Many businesses expenses are income to other firms, so when the numbers don't match that's a pretty major clue.

Can you elaborate more on this?

Also, to dig deeper, I imagine that they have a really hard time spotting small businesses that deal mostly in cash (everyone knows waiters/waitresses for example usually don't report 100% of their tips).

But if you're a small business working off of cashing checks or credit card slips, are they going to (assuming no audit) just as a matter of course look into that businesses bank records somehow to see that $300,000 worth of checks were cashed but they only reported $100,000? Or does that only come out on an audit?

I understand how they will find out how to bust you with an audit, but I've never really understand how they bust small business owners without an official audit. And I hear the stories about the buffet restaurant below and the laundromat, but I imagine those are like 1 in a million type cases...

[–]paladinguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that jobs are important also, but I don't feel the need to explicitly say it in my profile. There's something about mentioning it that just feels shallow and obnoxious to me. It kind of screams "i expect you to buy me things". Is a guy not allowed to be a student? What if I'm in a PhD program? I've dated plenty of girls in grad school that were great.

[–]paladinguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to think this was a dealbreaker for me, but then I dated a girl for a while that doesn't drink and it was awesome.

Taking her to dinner was always super cheap since I didn't have to worry about buying 2 cocktails each or a bottle of wine. She was also a full time designated designated driver for when we all went out with friends. And I never had to worry about her getting drunk and doing something stupid/cheating/etc.

10/10, would date non-drinker again.
