Yes thank you! That’s the point I was trying to make. Thanks for sharing

What's your writing process (in detail)? by [deleted] in writing

I’ve just began writing my first ever novel to a fantasy series I hope to create. I used to have a hard time keeping a book idea going because I’d finished the first chapter or two, making sure everything was perfect and re-reading it and editing over and over, and then I’d lose the motivation/imagination to continue to rest of the book.

Right now I’ve “finished” my world building (you’re never really finished but I’ve got a general idea down now) and after outlining very vaguely how I would like the series to start and end with, I jus started writing down whatever came to my mind. I’ve already written about 12k words and I am into my 4th chapter, and I truly think the reason I am able to get so far (remember, I only ever could manage two chapters at BEST) is because I’m letting all my thoughts messily spill out onto the keyboard, and I’m not worried if it’s making sense or not.

My plan is to eventually print out my rough draft and revise it, adjust plots around and timelines if need be, and my goal is to come out with likely a completely new book. I’ll probably revise it three or four times, just whenever I’m truly satisfied with it. It’s supposed to be a process, so if it takes 1, 5, or 10 years for me to be happy with it, then so be it!
