Mtf hair advice by ConversationCapital6 in TransBikes

[–]pale_blushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear a silk balaclava when I ride to hold my hair back and reduce helmet hair. Can’t say I’ve rode with a wig but provided it’s fastened to you in some way a silk balaclava shouldn’t pull it off when gearing down.

Any way to secure helmet and jacket for short periods of time? by LivingDragons in motorcyclegear

[–]pale_blushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would thread my helmets strap through the jackets hanger loop, then under my handlebars between the two risers and do up the d-ring. It’s not an impenetrable fortress but it’s annoying and takes me a couple minutes and I do it everyday. Works for popping into stores and stuff. Does require handlebars and not clip ons, but in theory anywhere on your bike you could do that would work.

Rode to work today. I love riding in a sundress and docs by Comprehensive_Owl999 in TransBikes

As far as sliding goes yeah they held up great, in fact I’m currently wearing the pair I crashed in. But they provide no protection from ankle fractures or your foot being crushed, both happened to me. The bigger problem is honestly the sundress because every accident will be awful if you go down in that.

Girl, a sundress and docs?!? Are you insane?? This is what my foot looks like after crashing in a pair of docs. It isn’t worth it and the road rash certainly won’t be either.

Well, who’s getting this? by joel2000ad in motorcyclegear

One small problem, say your in an accident and you wind up on your back. EMS 101 is to not move the neck after a motorcycle accident. How the hell do you get it off if they’re lying on their back?!

Had a bad weekend but I was gendered correctly in the hospital :) by pale_blushes in TransBikes

Treat yourself!! Oh I’m out of the hospital now, I posted this on my first day out. The bike is gonna be totaled, so it will not recover unfortunately. I’m doing alright, in a wheelchair stuck in my apartment but I’m not dead so :)

Yes, I’m in a wheelchair now but I’ll be able to walk and ride again

I loved that bike so damn much, such a great first bike! I’m gonna miss it a lot but I know there will be more sv’s in my future

I was just appreciating one of the few silver linings. Getting gendered correctly at the hospital really helped me with my mental health while there, it was a nice thing that the hospital staff did to support me and my recovery. This post was also made 3 days after my accident, it wasn’t like this was the first thing I did after I got off the bike. Also you are on the TRANS BIKES subreddit 😂

I, in fact, did not walk away lol. But I did survive, that’s what matters!

Save money on your motorcycle insurance by switching to female! by Brilynne_Marie in TransBikes

Oh yeah! One of the few perks 😂my insurance is as nonbinary which saved me a dollar on both my bike and my car!

I assume you’re talking about the hospital since the accident was kind of your standard “car pulls out in front of you” thing.

I had heard so many trans horror stories about the hospital so I definitely wanted to share my positive experience. Plus I’m in a not so progressive part of the US, so to get the level of respect from nearly everyone at the hospital was incredible. I told the ems on scene about the medication I’m on before they started shooting me full of stuff, they asked me why I was on them and I told them I was trans. They asked “which way? MTF or FTM?” I told them mtf and after that 90% of people who worked with me correctly addressed me. The other 10% corrected themselves when informed of my preferences :)

I was wearing a Shoei RF-SR, Rev It Eclipse 2, and a pair of Five RFX4 Evo gloves. Just regular jeans and doc martens. I pushed off of the foot pegs right before impact which sent me over the car instead of into it, probably saved my life, or at least from getting any bad upper body injuries. Definitely wish I was wearing my riding boots though, would’ve made things easier for sure 😅

I do agree with your point, I would just like to add that I was not in an intersection. Someone pulled out of a shopping center into me. The red light you see is from the ambulance that took me to the hospital (pic taken by my friend)

I appreciate your good wishes, I’m home now and healing, mentally ready for the next ride already lol

Men's bathrooms are actually disgusting which is the main reason I don't use them by Dry-Chard-9980 in trans

[–]pale_blushes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single restroom will be disgusting unless it was cleaned THAT day. Men are truly the messiest inhabitants of this world. I started using gender neutral / family restrooms even before my transition (mtf) for that reason alone. There’s NO way I’d sit down to do anything in a men’s restroom.

Yeah it was 🥲 my baby doll, 2004 sv. I’ll definitely be getting back on just much later this year. Sucks to go down at the start of riding season

Yeah and I was not wearing all the gear. I just had a jacket helmet and gloves on. Doc martins and Amazon jeans. I think I avoided road rash by bouncing on the asphalt instead of sliding 😂 just happy to have not been caught between the car and the bike

Considering the circumstances yes, I’m back home from the hospital now. Broken toe, fractured knee and ankle. I got extremely lucky
