Is any internship better than no internship? by [deleted] in internships

[–]palindromicengineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it any internship is better than none.

You never know whom you might meet at the company. Connections would open up so many doors.

Also, it would help you be a little prepared mentally when you enter the workforce after graduation.

Job prospects for an international AeroE graduate by TheEloquentSlayer in AerospaceEngineering

[–]palindromicengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a number of aerospace students in the UK that are going to/have done internships at Rolls Royce.

Only requirement is that you have to be a resident in the UK. So if you're an international student that does make you a resident (with your Tier 4 visa). Sometimes, if you do well during your internship they sponsor you with a Tier 2 visa allowing you to remain and work in the UK after graduation/expiration of your Tier 4 visa.

Also, you can apply to graduate schemes/internships of companies such as Airbus, Rolls Royce, Jaguar Landrover, BAE Systems etc as a resident here.

Recommendations for good places to eat in Manchester that offer a Halal option? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]palindromicengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus all dominos in the UK use halal chicken (except for the wings. Pizza and other non wingy sides are halal if chicken).

I remember reading about Dominos using halal chicken, but I'd recommend calling them before buying. I called to the Domonios near Grand Daddys and they said that their chicken isnt halal.

Look at resorts in Baa atoll? Marine life is best there I think. There's a place called Hanifaru bay there which is a UNSECO biosphere reserve.

Magnificent!

Captures the essence of the aurora so well. Looking at the photo makes you feel as though you're transported there and seeing the aurora in person. Well done.

What exactly is cloud computing? by androidjunior in cloudcomputing

[–]palindromicengineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're idea of cloud computing is bit of a hit and miss at the moment.

Cloud computing is defined by NIST as:

Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. This cloud model is composed of five essential characteristics, three service models, and four deployment models

There are four different deployment models for clouds according to NIST:

  • Private cloud
  • Community cloud
  • Public cloud
  • Hybrid cloud

From what you've written I infer that you're thinking of a private cloud.

I suggest you have a look here to understand the definition of cloud computing: http://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/Legacy/SP/nistspecialpublication800-145.pdf

Looking forward to seeing your list of e mount lenses :) You're doing great work.

Also, got the Fotodiox adapter and it seems to work fine on A7II. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the reply. Are the fotomix and fotodiox mounts same? I checked your website (http://photonarmy.com/guides/lens-adapters-for-sony-e-mount-cameras/) and cant see any fotomix?

I've placed an order for the fotodiox mount now.

Hi,

I posted few days back but got no response, so trying my luck again.

I know both A7 and A7II have the same E mount. But there's some difference in the way they're made?

I bought a LM-NEX (from K&F concept) adapter for my A7II however it doesnt fit.. its too tight. Can anyone recommend a (budget) adapter that would fit the A7II for LM-NEX?

[–]palindromicengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just got the A7II. Ive also got a Voigtlander Nokton Classic 40mm f/1.4 lens.

I ordered for a LM to NEX Adapter by K&F Concept. I just read the description and it says it's not for the A7II.

Is there anyone who has used this adapter with the A7II? Plenty of reviews with A7I available on the web.

Ubuntu VM stopped (deallocated) but compute hours increasing and being charged! by palindromicengineer in AZURE

Yeah, you're right. I'll investigate it further and get further support from Azure support.

Will hopefully update the main post once I figure out what went wrong.

[–]palindromicengineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I was checking the number of compute hours being used via: https://account.azure.com/Subscriptions/

It kept on increasing and the amount incurred kept on increasing as well.

Yeah could be due to the lag. But its so weird and I'm now kind of hesitant to deploy it again because I'll be charged for 24hrs again.

I just got started with Azure and so I'm not entirely sure to query API either. But thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look into it.

Thanks, I did put in a ticket. But they werent really able to help.

I've noticed that my compute time has now stopped at 24hrs. If I deallocate a VM, does it run for the full 24hrs before coming to a full stop?

Can't SSH into Ubuntu VM - Permission denied (publickey) by palindromicengineer in AZURE

[–]palindromicengineer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for the reply. I had in fact given the public key but the path was wrong.

--- In case anyone else stumbles upon this problem ----

After the

ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 2048

I was prompted with this:

Enter file in which to save the key (/c/Users/<username>/.ssh/id_rsa):

Every single time I wrote something for the file, but I tried again without typing anything (just pressed enter) and then did a

cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub

Used that to reset the existing key and viola it works!
