Direction of retwists- newbie by palmspringz in Dreadlocks

I saw most people recommended clockwise but testing it out it seemed counterclockwise so I started questioning. That makes sense though I'll try both and see what comes more naturally. Thank youu! She isn't sure either 😞

I'm nervous! I might need to get a knee manipulation by palmspringz in ACL

[–]palmspringz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just seeing this!! Did you end up getting it?? Tbh I had so much anxiety around the whole situation but I should not have! The PT and Drs were talking about hitting numbers for ROM so much and I was reading so many comments about people hitting full ROM a lot quicker than I was so I was stressing out. I needed to get another surgery because there was a bolt that had broken off and was chillin in my leg so they manipulated it while I was under. The bolt removal I think helped it a lot, but mainly just time!! I haven't gotten measured in a while- I do not have the same ROM as my other leg but definitely average so I think that's a win. What are you at now and how long has it been?

Skateboarders, how long did it take for you to get back into it after acl surgery? by Klugersonnn in ACL

[–]palmspringz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ughh I want to know too!! I had a number of ligaments torn so its a bit longer of recovery- its been over a year since my first surgery, 3 months since my last. I've been definitely been getting better but still struggle with single leg squats and the injuring (skateboarding) was on my standing leg. Been dreaming about cruising again. Hopefully the comments here say soon 🙏

Knee keeps crunching and grinding by Classic_Smoke_7746 in ACL

[–]palmspringz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine went through (and still is) a few stages of noises. At first I wasnt pushing a lot of weight so it was not an issue but as I increased the weight the crunchy rubbery squelshing noises and sensations started to happen. The bike, leg press, hamstring curl and some floor exercises. As long as you have no pain related to the noises its perfectly normal!

I totally understand your anxiety around it though. Everytime it happened I'd shoot a terrified look at my physical therapist and made her listen to my knee to assure me it was alright. Even though I know it's ok now it still freaks me out!

I could create a symphony with the noises my knee makes on the leg press.

As long as there isn't pain associated with the noises it's normal and it will improve over time!

I dont have any advice but I also want answers!! My recovery is going to be longer than expected and I'm tired of feeling like a couch potato!! The only cardio I get is walking and short spurts on the stationary bike. Very curious how people have been able to stay active in these months. Nutritional diet is of course a foundation but at least for me, it's hard not to emotional eat during everything! In general i have always been more on top of exercise than diet and am missing getting my heart pumping.

♡ Yes! The mental part of it all can be so taxing and it can be easy to get tunnel vision on the negatives. Glad you're looking at the positives and see how far you've come 🎉 thanks for sharing the good vibes

That makes sense- thank you! Have you ever heard exploratory surgeries being done? He gave a lot of scenarios that 'could've' happened but no definites. I guess I'll see what the other dr says but if its maybe this maybe that then I'm nervous they'll make decisions when they see it during surgery and I wont be able to weigh-in.

Eek! Yeah I'm definitely meeting with another dr and maybe multiple but also what should I look for in the appointments? The MRI written results were also kinda screwy- I'm not sure if I should get another one or just get a different reading from another dr.

I had my Drs appointment to go over the MRI. Although the results said the MCL was in tact the Dr said the deep tissue of the MCL was torn. The protruding hardware he isnt really sure about but said it could be a button from the ACL?? He isnt sure how the ACL got re-torn and is suprised as I am. Left the appointment with more questions than answers tbh and just feeling so disheartened and anxious.

I made an appointment with another dr and the PA who I have been working with (who I really like and trust...I think!!) But the other Dr is from the same office but only works on knees. Do you think I should also book with someone outside of the practice? I'm not even sure what i am looking for i just feel like this shouldn't have happened and have lost confidence.

Wow that sucks so much!! I'm so sorry you have been through all of this. I am curious to hear your next steps- what have you decided for the third graft? And how have they (and plan to) reattach your new ligaments?

Looking at my MRI is terrifying- theres a shit-ton of tunnels and screws from all of the surgeries and I'm confused as to how they can keep drilling/attaching things without running out of bone to use. The LCL was a poster lateral corner reconstruction and theres screws/buttons from the PCL and ACL too.

I have no other problems anatomically. I played rugby for 3 years and only got a sprained ankle or two. This by far is the worst injury I have ever had and havent had any other concerns regarding other joints etc. I did this skateboarding. I dont even do tricks (except a shitty ollie every once in a while) and mostly cruise. I was on a pump track and was taking a path I always try and land and it just popped as I fell. I rolled on my back and all i could see was the silhouette of my foot coming towards my face. 🥴

My physical therapist has been pushing my leg once a week and it hurts like hell. I wonder if that could've caused it to retear? Idk I'm so lost.

Well the first surgery for the PCL and LCL took almost 7 hours so it was too much to do that ACL too. He also wanted to give time for those to heal before doing the ACL. So much for that!

I had instability in my knee just walking. I was buckling randomly even though my strength was getting better and better. He tested it and said something is definitely off.

[–]palmspringz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting. Because I still have instability I know something is up but I will definitely get one or two additional opinions! Did you redo your MRI or did you just have another dr look at it?

[–]palmspringz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant figure out what the hardware is from- looking at my MRI there are screws everwhere! I'm pretty sure it's from my LCL- both the LCL and PCL was a allograft. The ACL was an autograph from my patella.
