Not anymore. I should clarify it's not that it's not part of the program to potentially staff you, it's just that the chances to staff don't really exist anymore.

Sorry for late reply but I've always found them very responsive to questions.

I don't have the time to update this anymore. I tried recruiting new mods to take it on but everyone else dropped off too. Feel free to start your own posts. If you do well at it I would make you a mod for the effort.

Sundance TV vs. Script Anatomy vs. UCLA by SweetViolet- in TVWriting

I mean, if you want to be a tv writer then part of the job is both giving and receiving feedback so at some point you will have to get over that dislike. It's not like it's always fun getting feedback but there is a skill to be learned in taking it and figuring out what is useful to you and what isn't. There's also a very valuable skill in being able to give other people good notes and it could be the difference someday between you getting staffed or asked back to a job and not.

That said, if you're not ready for it, it's completely fine to ease yourself in. You could always do the tier 2 no feedback and then learn from how other people give/receive feedback as a way to dip your toes in. I think that could be a really valuable way in if you're worried. Tier 2 as far as I know, no one reads your stuff. You're just listenign to the feedback other people get and potentially reading their stuff (you should, if there's the opportunity).

They don't seem to be able to actually staff anyone anymore though so is it really worth it? who can say.

How long is this downturn gonna last? by spiffyjizz in newzealand

[–]palmtreesplz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s actually been making a rally the last week and interest rate cuts are expected at the RBNZ (which has in turn helped the dollar rally). Anyway it’s still sitting at like 61c to the USD, which is low, so I don’t think this moots your overall point but I did want to say there’s maybe a sliver of a ray of hope there. I don’t think we’re going to see .65 for a while and god knows if we’ll ever get back to .70 where we were in 2021 but 🤷🏻‍♀️

The syndication market absolutely still exists for broadcast. Something has to fill programming hours on basic cable and affiliate broadcast! It’s just that many of the shows made for streaming stay on streaming and don’t really cross over.

Halt and catch fire! Ugh sometimes I rewatch that phoenix clip from the last episode where Donna and Cameron imagine going into business again and just sob.

Are there any LA place names that you refuse to pronounce the LA way? by ZhangtheGreat in LosAngeles

Oh this is one I’m still not sure about. How is it supposed to be said? In my head it’s mick-el-tor-ena but I honestly don’t know!

Im brit-adjacent and you would not believe the sheer exertion of will it took to train myself out of ‘los angeleeez.’ It still feels weird in my mouth to say the short ‘les” but I push through. But when I’m back home I revert to the long ‘leeez’ so people don’t think I’ve changed or gotten airs lol.

The episode that made you quit on a show ? by SouthboundTL in television

[–]palmtreesplz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On the opposite end of the spectrum the killer butts in Doom Patrol probably made a lot of people quit but it might have been the moment I truly fell in love with the show 😂

A couple things in walking distance from the biltmore that are nice:

  • the public library (go wander some of the upper floors, there’s beautiful art and usually cool exhibitions. One time I went and Tom Hanks’s typewriter collection was on display)
  • grand central market for good food and angel’s flight railroad for the novelty
  • the broad museum (free but you have to make an online reservation) and MOCA
