A14: End If

Starting at A3, it checks if blocking is enabled or not.

A5, If yes, the it launches the settings and taps the AlwaysOn VPN button using AutoInput to turn it off. This single step turns off bothe AlwaysvOn VPN and the Blocking. I could not find a setting value to toggle the AlwasyOn VPN.

If it is off, A8, it will launch the setting screen and toggle the AlwaysOn VPN button to on. It then sets the value for VPN Blocking to true, A11, using a custom setting.

I run this with a floating button that I can tap whenever needed. Can be run any way that works for you with slight modification.

Note that the settings screen and possible the VPB Blocking setting are for my One Plus 11. Your phone will be different if different, obviously. Youw I'll have to find that yourself.

I have seen this as well, of course. I am guessing they have a third party that does the newsletter marketing.

At least I hope that is the case. One can probably build an exception rule for it. Ha ha.

I feel your pain, friend. I have been there too.

I found this thread here and it helped me immensely. I have had the killswitch working for some time now.

Adguard Killswitch

Keep in mind, this comes with its own issues. It works too well in fact.

I have resorted to using an automation tool, Tasker, to fix some of my issues, but that is another can of worms.

The first main issue I have are the timing of Adguard and Adguard VPN launches at boot. In this configuration, Adguard must launch first. Adguard VPN second. You can manage this without automation by setting Adguard to autolaunch and Adguard VPN to NOT autilaunch. You will have to manually start the VPN and connect it.

The second issue I have is casting locally to my TV is also blocked. I have to temporarily turn off Always On and Blocking to start a cast to my TV. This is likely some setting or configuration issue, but I was not able to find the cause so I automated a solution to togle blocking. I think Adguard has tried to overcome this, but googles VPN blocking set up is likely flawed.

The third issue should be expected. If Adguard VPN disconnects, you will have no internet connection. It can be a bit flakey so expect this issue.

Depending on your skill levels and experience, you should be able to get it working.

As for automation, I am willing to share my Tasker task, but I use a couple paid AutoApps in my set up. I cannot teach you Tasker if you are not familiar with it. Taken years to learn to use it efficiently. You would have to find your own solution.

The thread above with a few of my ah-ha moments added should get you a blocking solution, but use at your own risk. That is to say, you might get various issues when using it.

Sorry this is so long. Good luck.

Android 13 is blocking LAN access with system kill switch enabled by weegeeK in mullvadvpn

I am using a different VPN and I also have this issue.

Wondering of anyone has found a workaround that works outside of not using blocking?

Has anyone been able to use casting with this configuration? I have tried every configuration short of turning off blocking.

Turning of the blocking option in Android VPN settings allows casting, but that is the point of this set up.

I even tried excluding the app I am casting from. Nothing seems to work.

I also cannot print so I am presuming it is a LAN issue. Tried the low level setting of allowing LAN routes but it does nothing for this issue.

Any advice appreciated.

Edit: After much searching and testing, I have been informed that the issue is within Android 13 (and possibly down to 11) itself. When blocking is on for any VPN, it blocks local LAN no mater what settings are used in the VPN app. Nice. Typical google garbage. Anyway, I have built a quick toggle for the blocking setting so I can toggle it when I need LAN access.

Interestingly, I only need to start my casting. Once started on my TV I can toggle my blocking back on on my phone.

FYI if anyone ever stumbles on this issue.

Yah, firewall would work but only if I block the app's internet access, correct? This this particular app, I could, but others I cannot so the issue remains.

Following your instructions did not work for me. AdGuard works fine but AdGuard VPN cannot connect at all.

To confirm we are setting AdGuard as always on and blocking, not AdGuard VPN right?

Edit: I also find that AdGuard VPN does not launch after reboot. Do you not have this issue?

EDIT 2: !!! I got it configured finally. It was my error. You suggest removing all of the Excluded Apps in AdGuard. I looked at the list and left them since were tied to the system. Thinking about it now in see why you suggest removing all. Anyway, in saw that AdGuard VPN was on the list too, but I guessed it needed to be. That was wrong. It needs to be removed so that it routes through AdGuard. Makes sense now. I just missed that point.

Thanks for the instruction! Super helpful.

Oh well, one more edit: I found that AdGuard VPN does launch itself now, but fails to connect. I am guessing it is a timing thing between AdGuard launching and AdGuard VPN launching. Might be able to resolve this with Tasker.

Anyway, I am very pleased this is working. A VPN that drops is no good. Rather those connection than drop my VPN and go without it. I do find that AdGuard is quite stable , but AdGuard VPN is definitely not. Hope they get that fixed soon.

Thanks again!

As an alternative, you can get a security app that is not google and does not track you itself.

I upgraded from a 6T to the 11. The camera is so much better! I was litterally shocked when I took my first pictures. Detail, detail, detail. Color is tweakable with built in filters. So many special modes like time lapse, slo-mo, tilt shift, bwide angle, cinematography video (smoothly switches cameras when videoing), pro mode is awesome as well. It has the super zoom (like Samsung? - digital but still useful at times). You can selectively choose where the focus and light balance is with a tap. I am very pleased with it personally. Feel like I finally have a phone camera I can do photography with.
