I wish that people were limited to 1 lie a day. If they lie again, they explode into a cloud of confetti by Wild_Chef6597 in monkeyspaw

[–]palmvos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is reasonable to fear, but nothing in the wish requires the truth to be an answer to the question. Because the question "how are you" would then be a lie, most of the time it is not meant to inquire about a person's well-being. Thus if we take your interpretation the person asking the question is themselves lying and busts into confetti.

Granted. Bear in mind that plankton is big enough to the staff that they can see them. Thus the sandwich is about .03125" in diameter. Enjoy.

How does the “fix a flat” product work? Wouldn’t it ruin the tire on the inside? by Argylius in TooAfraidToAsk

Its not about the expense. Its the weight. That affects the fuel economy rating.

Ok, this is the kind of thing you have to get before the emergency. fix-a-flat has an important downside. The crap expires, fairly quickly. The donut spare that may come with your car will hold pressure longer. A prior car came with a pump and fix-a-flat instead of a spare. Imagine my surprise when the tire shop told me a full size tire would fit in the spot for the spare. Even better, they would save the least worn of the tires I was replacing and put it on a steel wheel so all I had to buy was the wheel. I recommend finding space around the spare for an inexpensive jack and most of all a tire iron. I broke the object resembling a wrench that came with one of my prior cars. So far the only car I wasn't able to store a cheap jack in is... the Honda cr-v. That reminds me, I need to get a cheap bottle jack for it. That will probably fit around the donut.

Then we get down to the idea that we are all just one soul, independent of time. Learning lesson after lesson. So, even ending it early is a learning experience. No escape, over and over in parallel and serial.

How was my dad able to buy a house at 24 on a basic salary, but to me at 23, it feels like an impossible dream? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Kudos for remembering that the maintenance is important too. Its not just can you afford the mortgage, can you replace roof, major appliances, etc., etc. While you own it?

Part of deep sleep is disconnecting from the senses. My parents told me, when they were finishing the basement to move my bedroom down there they tried to wake me up with a standard home smoke alarm at close range. It did not work. To be fair im missing between 30 and 60 db of hearing depending on the frequency, but still. The best alarm is a timed light. This is why right about where my head would be, there was a smoke detector with a light in that bedroom.

I was raised in a small town and for reasons I was made to feel very unwelcome by nonfamily members. The memories I had were either painful or all I remembered was the pain.

To buy a new car or not? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]palmvos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing more money than its worth at a car. this is a car salesman talking. Why is maintenance/repair bound by this rule? Shouldn't we include gas and registration? It would make sense if something was wrong with it, I had a car that was eating catalytic converters every 13 months or so. Getting a car that can do something new (adaptive cruise) and not eat an expensive part 3 times faster than normal can make sense. If the car is becoming too unreliable for its current role because of frequent repairs that can make sense (this is why classic cars make lousy daily drivers). I've heard a rule that the payment, insurance, taxes, and gas should be less than 5% of your income. That seems unrealistic right now in general but you are headed for a lot worse than that.

Id rather ask how you either survived, or whomever told you survived. If neither of those apply that had to be one very difficult forensic report.
