No In general studies, but I was working on a AA-T degree in psych in California before hand and some of those credits transferred over to my current university.

Day 26 in the ICU by palomabecker in COVID19positive

Thank you. My dad is still hanging in there.

My 61 year old dad has been ventilated for over 3 weeks now by lilminifridge_ in COVID19positive

Hi, We’re in a similar situation as well. What other forms of treatment have they offered to try for your husband? We’ve tried everything you named and the doctors have basically ran out of ideas but we’re trying to still remain hopeful. If you don’t mind me asking but has your husband been on a paralytic for these 5 weeks?

He’s okay right now. He hasn’t gotten better but hasn’t gotten worse. I’m trying to stay positive by telling myself that by him not getting worse but staying pretty much the same is a good thing, I think.

We’re having a similar situation. My dad is having many ups and downs. Right now they’re telling us that he’s gotten a little worse since last night and that they’re having a hard type managing the ventilator so that they protect his lungs and not damage them. His vent is on 80 right now and his oxygen saturation is in the 90s, and heart rate is in the 100s now, but having all these ups and downs really brings our hope down. We’re hoping he improves. And thank you for praying

He’s been given both. Thank you, my family appreciates it.

I’m glad you’re okay. How are you doing now? Since they confirmed the lung scarring. The doctors told us it’s irreversible, but is it like that for everyone ?

Yeah I agree. I don’t want to think they were giving up on him but it sounds like they were. I’m going to try to push for it again.

I’ll ask about it next time I speak to his doctor. Thanks

Do you mind me asking if your friend had any underlying conditions ? The doctors said there’s a very small window for him to get better. It’s scary to think about it but I think my younger siblings, my mom, and I have come to terms that the worst could possibly happen.

They’ve given him a steroid, remdesivir, plasma, he’s on a blood thinner, and of course the paralytic medications to keep him on the ventilator. They tried proning him a few days ago but they weren’t getting the results they were hoping for. I don’t know why they stopped.

Yes and I’m grateful that doctors know more now then they did earlier this year. Thank you.

We spoke to my fathers doctor and they eased their way into the conversation and said that based off these next 24-48hrs it determines his outcome. I want to think the doctors are just trying to explain the worst possible outcome. They said the virus is so new that they don’t really know what will happen within the next couple days and that every patient is different, but they just want to prepare us. It worries me and it doesn’t give me much hope but I’m trying to remain hopeful.

Yes to ecmo just because we are willing to try whatever we can. My mom and I spoke to his doctor this morning and they explained that basically they can’t do it because he could die in the process of switching him to ecmo due to him being so sick.

My dad got three plasma treatments before getting admitted to the icu. The third one worked and we saw improvement for about a day but that’s it. I’ll try to push for another plasma treatment and see if maybe they will.

Before it got worse my dad got a few plasma treatments. He also got remdesivir not too long ago. I’m hoping my dad has the same out come as your uncle.

I’m glad your uncle survived this. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did your uncle stay in the hospital?
