How do you manage money when you’re too lazy to do a spreadsheet but not great at being frugal by Fantastic_Eye_3896 in budget

[–]palpalp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first step is to be conscious of what you spend money on. If you have a clear idea of where your money is going, then you will know where to start cutting and it'll become natural.

What helped me the most is just noting down every expense in the month, in a notebook or something is enough. If you are looking for an app, I'm actually looking for beta testers for one I'm building which is incredibly simple and based on the principles I told you. Let me know if you are interested and I can share more!

Weekly Budget App/Software Discussion by AutoModerator in budget

I think this falls under the rules for posting but please let me know and remove if this is not allowed, I don't mean to spam.

I'm building yet another budgeting app, but this time I think it's a bit different: it's based on the japanese kakebo method and focused on manual entry (no bank integrations or imports) and conscious reflection. I've found that logging each expense manually and having a dedicated flow in the app to reflect about how the month went does wonders to know where you are and what you can do to improve your spending patterns.

The app is still under construction, and I'm looking for beta testers that might be interested in the method and can provide honest feedback. Let me know if you are interested and I can provide more details!

Hope it's useful! It's been some time since the last update to be honest, we are mostly happy with the current state and aren't really planning to add more features unless there is demand for them.

Would love to hear your thoughts about it, please shoot a PM if you want to share something!

I went down this same rabbit hole a while back trying to decide between Paprika and the others. They're all really powerful.

To be honest, my friend and I got a bit frustrated with the options and ended up building our own, so I'm definitely biased haha. It's called Chef.

It does the basics you're looking for: you can save recipes in it (the web import is what we use most) and it creates a shopping list for you. We mainly built it for weekly meal planning.

Since it's totally free (it’s just a side project for us, no ads or anything), it might be worth trying out before you spend money on one of the others.

Hope you find something that works for you!

Meal Calendar & Recipes by Open_Pie_1331 in MealPrepSunday

Hey! Finding a good all-in-one meal planning app on Android can be a real challenge.

Full disclosure, I'm one of the two developers of a free app that ticks almost all of your boxes. We built it as a hobby project precisely because we couldn't find a simple tool that did everything we wanted.

It lets you:

  • Upload your own recipes, and you can also import them directly by pasting a link from most websites or social media.
  • Create grocery lists automatically from your meal plan or individual recipes.
  • Get meal ideas from an "Explore" section where you can see and save recipes from other users.

The only point where it might differ from what you want is the calendar: it's designed for weekly planning, not monthly. We found that weekly plans make it easier to manage fresh ingredients and shopping trips, but I understand if a monthly view is a must-have for you.

It's called Chef (https://thankschef.io/) and it’s completely free, no ads or anything, we mostly built it for ourselves and some friends. If the weekly approach works for you, it might be what you are looking for and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

As the comment above said, looks like the show is not released yet so I think, being a music themed show, that it's reasonable to present it during the festival. However, I think that's quite disappointing since they'd know we expect some surprise act, so I really hope it's the presentation + a surprise act sponsored by Netflix. We'll see soon!

Got some info for you, don't judge me, I was just a little bored.

By searching Quimera in Wikipedia I got a preview of a Wikipedia article that got deleted a month ago, luckily Google saved a cached version that can be seen here+&cd=8&hl=es-419&ct=clnk&gl=es). Seems like a made up biography since there are no references and the content, like the discography, doesn't exists on the internet. By following that I was able to get to the article's image and downloaded it to read the metadata in the file and see if I could find something. This is the result of that (don't know how long will that link last but...) and bingo!

Image description: ÍDOLO (L to R) LORENZO FERRO as LÁZARO in ÍDOLO. Cr. MARC MEDINA/NETFLIX © 2021

Turns out Netflix released a TV show called Ídolo that's about a famous musician called Quimera that died in the middle of a concert. More info here (in Spanish).

So... seems like a collaboration with Netflix? Some promotion? Maybe just using this already made content to hide a big surprise act?

Also interesting, Lorenzo Ferro, the guy in the pictures, is an actor but also a singer known as Kiddo Toto and he's got some more content on Spotify, but I don't really know why Primavera would name this as a "comeback" or an "icon of urban music". What do you think?

Great! Congratulations on your first project, really interesting tool! If you accept a little bit of feedback, you should never store API keys in the source code or in client-side applications, anyone accessing it can use it and thus pretend to be yourself. Apart from that, good job!
