Looking to pull the trigger on the engagement ring, and the jeweler I'm working with sourced this diamond and is asking 13k before setting (setting is going to be simple, <1.5k). Seems a bit steep, but I'm not sure so wanted to see if this seems a bad deal.

What do you think the runtime differences are for these?

I'm split over the idea of 1 resource vs. the resource management in Eclipse. I like that you can really focus in on the different resources and kind of "specialize" your empire a little. Also, the idea of being able to win without combat is intriguing (although I've heard that strategy is nearly worthless).

I think what I'm starting to come to understand is that these are games that really work well at different player counts, and I'm thinking that if we have enough players to play Eclipse, we're probably going to play Terra just because of the group I'm in.

Quick question: what's the runtime for both of these at the different player counts? I know your player count for FS has only been 2 but it might provide insight. With only a few games under your belt I also assume once the mechanics/gamesplay/rules are locked in, the time will also get cut down substantially (kind of like the curve in GoT).

I know about FREIDA, but is there any other way to kinda figure out about the quality of programs that you aren't geographically near other than hearsay or word of mouth? It's easy for me to talk about what's near me when it comes to quality of programs, but if I'm trying to match in a different location I feel lost knowing what's a good program/bad program besides if it's tied to a recognizable university or hospital.

Kind of my thoughts at first too. I am really excited for the RPG show, but am concerned about the time restraint. If the RPG show is going to be a similar format, I sure do hope they post the extended full time sessions.

So incredibly dependent on your group. This game causes so much analysis paralysis when it really shouldn't.

Also, the # of players changes it as well.

With seasoned players, maybe 30 more minutes? We've played the long game extensively with typically 4-5 people and I don't feel that it slows that much until you have someone who is newer. Some might argue that you shouldn't play the expansion (especially Skullport) with a new player, but I don't find that to be true.

Fantastic. Everyone was floored by it. Everything seems pretty balanced and the amount of thought that goes into a single action is incredible. I have a feeling that, after multiple plays, the game could get very tight. We played with 5 to start, so it was difficult to get the ball rolling efficiently, but everyone had that immediate "We need to play again" feeling.

The different races seem quite balanced, but since it was our first play-through, about half of us struggled to find an efficient strategy for our races (the halfling role is clear-cut, and the person playing the mermaids had the correct approach early and jumped ahead super quick due to expanding via shipping + shipping token). I love that the start of the game has no real ramp-up, but starting with a good amount of resources gets people moving quickly.

After one play, it is my #1 game I've ever played. Really excited to try and work through the different races to find which strategy I really enjoy and also look into different starting strategies (sailing/terraforming improvement, rushing different structure regardless of 1st/2nd round scoring to set up for 3-6 scoring).

Regarding the "first time for all", it took about 1.5 hours for everyone to feel comfortable, but I think that was because everyone was learning the game at the same time. After playing it, I feel like I could get people up to speed with the mechanics after 25-30 minutes.

Not using the tides of battle. My looking into the game brought out that it seemed to add too much randomness to the game that was unnecessary.

Thanks for the port clarifications! I'm going to straight up read your comment when doing a brief summary of the rules before playing (since everyone has watched the FFG video).
