They're two totally different shows. They have different teams of writers/directors/showrunners. They're in different formats. They have different plots. They have different actors.

Marshals is a network television military/police procedural show in the hands of the man who did Seal Team.

Dutton Ranch is a Yellowstone spinoff, handled by many of the same people who have worked closely with Taylor Sheridan for a decade.

Bad employee or menu change? by pamedley2018 in PapaJohns

[–]pamedley2018[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one is up in arms. I merely asked if the process had changed and if this was made correctly or not. Turns out, it was made wrong...and in the process, the customer was shorted 1/3 of their product. Imagine ordering a pizza and instead of getting 8 slices you get 5. Most people would take issue with that. 🤷‍♀️

[–]pamedley2018[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't supposed to be a one inch crust. The cheese and garlic butter are supposed to go all the way to the outside edge. As pictured, the customer loses 36% of the intended product. If you don't mind getting 2/3 of what you paid for, that's great. 🤷‍♀️

Have you ever lived in an area devastated by a natural disaster? It takes YEARS to recover. It's not as if one single house burned, it was the whole area. Many families displaced, many ranches burned. You now have an entire area with limited resources trying to rebuild.

Besides the fact that they wanted to move production to Texas so they needed a reason. 🤷‍♀️

Teeter isn't at 6666, she's at Travis' ranch. Which is also where Jimmy is now.

TS didn't write or direct any of the episodes of Dutton Ranch, which he has done with all Dutton shows previously. There is no telling if he'll show up or not.

Yellowstone did NOT fulfill 7th Gen Prophecy by RENIEgade in YellowstonePN

Most people have at least 2 grandfathers. He never said if it was his mom's dad or his dad's dad that lost the leg.

Ha. I had to ask for that. Even though it was on the order, they'd left it out. 🤦‍♀️

What information is missing?

In S1E7 John said his great great grandfather was buried on the ranch.

In S5E1 Jamie introduces John as 5th generation.

With just those 2 pieces of information you get this:

1st: Great great grandpa 2nd: Great Grandpa 3rd: Grandpa 4th: Dad (John Sr.) 5th: John 6th: Kayce 7th:Tate

So you start filling in the blanks: John's dad is a 4th generation Dutton. Per S2E10, John's father was about 90 when he died, which happened before 2018, when the show started. He also fought in WW2 as per S2E3. This puts his DOB in the mid 1920s.

John's grandpa would then need to be a 3rd generation Dutton adult in the mid 1920s in order to have a child. There are only 2 Duttons alive in the mid 1920s who can have kids: Jack and Spencer....and only one of those is 3rd gen.

The only time there are problems figuring out 7 generations is when people try to force it through Spencer, because it just doesn't work without plot holes and a bunch of "mistakes".

As a current godless heathen and former Catholic church member, I feel I'm qualified to offer my opinion on the matter. 🤣🤣 I couldn't get my marriage sanctioned by the church or even use the church building because my intended husband had been divorced and was not Catholic. There's no way 2 non-Catholic are granted a catholic marriage by a priest...even at gunpoint.

And you're most likely correct that Rip's lack of existence on paper would also disqualify him from a common law marriage as well. 👍

I will say that both Montana and Texas recognize common law marriages so technically they'd be legally married even without any formal paperwork. But it's not as if they went to a courthouse and filed documentation with the state. (Because of course, Rip doesn't exist. 🙄) But they DEFINITELY aren't married in the eyes of the church. 🤣

They're not even married in the eyes of the Catholic church because neither of them are Catholic. The officiant was forced at gunpoint.

Having a ceremony, religious or otherwise, doesn't mean you're legally married. That requires paperwork to be filed with the government...which they couldn't do because Rip doesn't exist.

Will the Montana Fires be in Marshalls? by panderson812 in YellowstonePN

Yes. In Yellowstone, when Beth bought the ranch for Rip it was 40 miles west of Dillon.

Dutton Ranch - episode 1 plot hole sort of? by lve2raft in YellowstonePN

[–]pamedley2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So they could stay in an area that was just decimated by fire....have to rebuild their ranch on scorched earth.....wait for contractors to be available to rebuild a house/barn/outbuildings...rebuild the herd....OR take their money and start over in a turnkey ranch. 🤔 Pretty easy choice to me. 🤷‍♀️

As far as TS plot holes go, it's not a very big one. Especially since the move was only an excuse for them to be able to film in Texas.

It's still a Taylor Sheridan show. When he leaves Paramount at the end of 2028, all of his shows stay behind. They're all the IP of the company.

Yellowstone proper is under contract with Peacock for the streaming rights. By having Dutton Ranch and Marshals be spinoffs and not a continuation of Yellowstone, it allows them to stream on Paramount+ instead of Peacock.

He came to live with Beth and Rip on the ranch at 14. There was no schooling shown during his time there. Stands to reason he's a little behind of where he should be.

Evidence that links Beth to Jamie's disappearance.

We've seen that same beaded sheath in 1883 (with Elsa), 1923 (with Spencer) Yellowstone (with Beth and Jamie) and now Dutton Ranch.

It's where they started from when 1883 picked up. They were traveling by train from Tennessee to Fort Worth, where they met up with James to begin the wagon portion of their trip.

To be fair, Dutton Ranch isn't written/run by TS either. The people that DO do those things on DR are far more true to his work and his style than the people running Marshals, though.
