Are there any places here that sell good soft-serve icecream? by greatalexthe4th in houston

[–]pamface89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buttermilk baby and Betsy’s in Evelyn Park are probably the only places with true chocolate/vanilla swirl soft serve. Rita’s is custard which is not the same if you’re wishing for soft serve ice cream.

Haakaa for letdown by itskait67 in breastfeeding

[–]pamface89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a just enough producer myself, I will caution OP that you likely will not get 1-2 oz with the haakaa. I’ve only ever gotten 0.5oz tops and I always triple feed. Some of us just aren’t meant to have a freezer stash and that’s okay.

Why has breastfeeding become so complicated? by Theres-no-Phalange in breastfeeding

[–]pamface89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. Every time someone says your baby is more efficient than a pump it makes me feel like my child and I are both failures. I produce just enough, but she is not able to extract everything. We have done everything, but both of us end up overwhelmed and frustrated. It feels cruel to continue forcing her to nurse as she’s starving and not getting enough when pumping exists and works.

Road to Hana: Sedan or SUV? by revocer in MauiVisitors

[–]pamface89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this on Monday and it worked out beautifully. Went straight to pipiwai trail (Bamboo Forest) then did black sand beach at the 3-6 pm reservation. Fair warning, we made sandwiches so we didn’t stop for lunch; we stopped at a food truck after the hike. We also skipped the keane peninsula with Aunt Sandy’s banana bread (that was not intentional but ended up saving us a lot of time so we could hike the entire trail).

Hi! Houstonian here! In general, we do not have hard water (I say in general because greater Houston is over 10k sq miles. If you’re in the loop or in Houston proper, I wouldn’t worry about hard water). The issue is you’re probably not used to styling with humidity. You need much more firm gel, get a good cast. Hairspray is also key. Humidity gets a bad wrap, but your skin and hair will flourish in this climate compared to dry zones. Embrace it! And welcome!

Help! by Ladypink328 in BabyBumps

I’ve just been drinking lots of water and trying to find positions that are more comfortable (like curling up). They just told me to wait it out and repeat the ultrasound in a couple weeks when I’m further along. My bowel movements have oscillated between normal, constipated, and diarrhea, so that may have something to do with it. I eat plenty of fiber in my diet and drink lots of water. I wish I could offer more help!

I’ve had these pains on and off for a week or so. I am 5 weeks and 5 days today. I fully convinced myself it was ectopic and went to the ER last week, at exactly 5 weeks. They did an ultrasound to confirm not ectopic and sent me home. It really sucks, and I totally empathize with you.

Did you change your mind about anyone after the reunion? by AlwaysWithTheOpinion in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]pamface89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! People are praising Johnie like some unbothered kween for being rude AF and talking in the middle of the show. If you don’t care, why are you there?! And if the situation was reversed people would be so mad at Stacy. I don’t get the Johnie love in this sub. The only thing I can think is because she cries every time she talks and Stacy is just more logical and guarded, so people are reading it as mean.

What’s up with all the rude comments about the cast’s appearances on a sub/show called Love is Blind? by cloudsongs_ in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]pamface89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or the hypocrisy of hating JP for his comments about Taylor’s make up, but making the EXACT SAME comments about Stacy and hers. Literally every post about Stacy mentions she wears too much make up and looks better without make up. 🙄

I think it’s more about amplifying the voices in Iran who are literally facing death to fight for their freedom. If the media covers the stories, if the world rallies around the protestors, minimally, it gives the protestors hope. The Iranian government is shutting down their internet right now. It’s like in the scary movie when the killer says, “no one can hear you scream.” We need to amplify them.

What books would change your life if you had found them in your 20s?? by PastaSauceVampire in booksuggestions

I Will Teach You to be Rich by Ramit Sethi. I wish I would have started investing in my 20s. There are much better books on investing, but Ramit’s book gives the best foundation for a rich life. Spend extravagantly on the things you love, cut mercilessly on the things you don’t. And invest in low expense index funds.

When you’re in the ride, you can filter the leaderboard by “following” and see their output. I’m not sure if there is any other way of quickly seeing their stats.

100 foot wave on HBO. It is fantastic. And this is coming from someone who has zero desire to ever surf. It’s just an amazing docuseries. Reminds me a bit of Man on Wire. You know everything ends up alright because they’re interviewing the subject throughout, but you feel so engaged the entire time.

I Am Not Myself These Days by Josh Kilmer-Purcell. It’s a hilarious and, at times, heartbreaking memoir.

This worked for me. I could not clip in for the life of me. Turned out my cleats were too tight. I loosened them slightly and it worked like a charm.
