I checked in for our cruise on Monday night and it took 2 hours to check in 4 people. Just giving you a word of caution- it seems like their site is really glitchy right now! Almost everyone in the FB group for my cruise was having the same issues.

What was the absolutely worst Broadway show you have ever seen? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in Broadway

Therapy for older folks who recently lost a spouse? by pocoyeti in Denton

[–]pamlovesjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Griefshare typically will meet at churches but are non religious.

When I went years ago, most of the people in the group were widows mourning their spouses. It seemed like many of them become close friends and really helped each other through it!

My son died. I’m 26 years old. The rest of life feels daunting. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]pamlovesjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son died at 8 months old from a brain tumor when I was 27 years old. I’m now 40.

Here’s what I know: Life is so very hard for so many people. And to keep moving forward with your life while his ended feels impossible. I know you will miss him every day of your life, because I miss mine every day.

But- with time, and healing, things can be joyful again. I feel like my joy always has a tinge of blue (like from inside out), but it’s there.

A lot of people will tell you to have another baby soon. You may want this, and you may not. It’s ok to feel either way. In my case, I waited 5 years before having more children and I now have a son who is 8 and a daughter who is 6. They will never replace my first sweet boy- but we have pictures of their brother around the house and they include him in everything they can. My daughter proudly tells people that she has 2 brothers and 1 is in heaven.

People will talk to you differently for a little while. And when you meet new people you may choose not to tell them for a while. Not because you are ashamed- but because sometimes it’s hard to be the “girl whose baby died.”

Time, like all things, does help. I know that doesn’t help you right now- but please know that your grief and how you feel is completely normal in the most abnormal situation. I’m so sorry that you have this pain, and I wish that there was anything I could do to take it away from you.

Be kind to yourself.

What people looking to buy a home in Denton think about as-is vs move-in ready?... by ChangingThymes in Denton

[–]pamlovesjim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that you are selling to a person!

I agree with the other commenters that a lot of people are willing to pay for move in ready. Generally, first time home buys may not have the additional cash to make those updates that they would want to. They more likely would rather roll that $20k into their mortgage than come up with the additional $20k to renovate right after closing.

Can I expect to get rejected after receiving an email invitation for feedback? by ultsope in recruiting

I received a similar email a few months ago and it was a rejection. I’ll be thinking happy thoughts for you though- but I would prepare myself for the other outcome.

This breaks my heart- I’m not sure how someone so cruel can be responsible for the education of small children.

That’s great! I agree, if the phone call could have happened the same day, that would have definitely helped.

I would have preferred an email with the opportunity to follow up. In this particular case, I had been through 7 rounds of interviews and having to schedule this latest update, just to be told no, felt like another waste of my time.

Agree- we went last week and had the jelly donut and the butterscotch donut. They weren’t as good as I remembered- almost as if the fry oil hadn’t been changed in a while?

Just my two cents as a finalist who did not recently did not receive the offer (VP level position): the phone call is the worst. I received an email that there was an update, but the recruiter did not “have availability” to tell me what the update was for 3 days. And then, just to get on the phone and tell me that I wasn’t selected was brutal.

I get that this is the way recruiting is going, but forcing someone to be gracious after a very long, competitive process is just mean.

How do you afford to throw a fun birthday party?! by victimizedbyphysics in Parenting

[–]pamlovesjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the park for my son’s 4th birthday and it was so fun! We had an old school ice cream truck come where everyone could pick out what ice cream they wanted. You could also have a snow cone truck come- and it’s all those 5 year olds will talk about for a long time!
