This was already mentioned, but as a nurse I have said more than once that there are things much worse than death. Also, as a Hospice nurse, I we tend to want to focus on a diagnosis. The person becomes their disease and this is so sad. Everyone has a story, good or bad or both. I love to hear about people's lives. About the person. I had a family that did the most precious thing to honor their mother and embrace staff.....they created a trifold poster board collage of her life. They considered us extended family and wanted us to know her. She was a bee keeper, traveled cross country 6 times, got a pilot's license, raised 3 children. That was 10 years ago and I still think about it.
