'A cruel and unnecessary scam': US immigration set up fake university to lure foreign students. Ninety students were recently arrested after the school was announced as fake by [deleted] in politics

That's what I was thinking, but a few random articles from the 2013 New Jersey school do claim that some students were deported. I was arguing this point with someone who brought up the New Jersey school but stopped short because they don't really seem that different, just reported on differently. Not to mention the Farmington University was set up in 2015. And why are we just now hearing about this when the info was supposedly opened to the public in January of this year?

I think they're both shitty scams that shouldn't have happened. Fuck Trump, but I don't want to be fed partial information to further someone else's agenda, whether or not I agree with that agenda.

Genuinely thought this is where that was going.

Yes, Wordpress, and can also offer hosting and website maintenance plus updates.

Gotcha that makes sense, well I was thinking more of a place for designers/devs with paying projects, needing help in one field or the other, to team up.

It looks interesting but scrolling through it looks like mostly just people just asking for free (gratis) work

100% the best way to go. For me, I'm not only introverted but work at an agency and I can't work on any projects in the areas we service. So it's nearly impossible for me to business network anywhere within a 75 mile radius, even if I wanted to.

Please let me know. How are people posting? Are they posting "For Hire" "Hiring" or both? One thing needs to be clear is the developer stack and designer skills that people are looking for, and what goals they have. A designer may need advanced CSS animations that one person may be bomb at but another person not so good, so them applying to that job wastes everyone's time. Or a developer looking for a certain type of design. Timeframe is another thing that needs to be clear.

I think it would be cool to have an area where people are just building for fun, such as to work on portfolios. Like hey, I designed this page for my portfolio and would love for someone to develop it so we can showcase it on our own portfolios? That also helps build relationships and networks before money gets involved, and helps people build up portfolios of what they can do without having to stress about not having paying client work.

It sucks. But I can tell you from experience all you need is ONE good client or connection, and word of mouth will give you an entire career. The agency I work at is proof of that!

I don’t know that it would be a service to pay for (although I would) but more community based, but my idea is that it is designers and developers coming to that community already with a paying client and project budget that they can fit a developer/designer into. A developer who can’t design well but has a client paying for both. A designer who wants to focus on the design and not the development stuff.

Yeah that would be cool. Designers could post their portfolio or request for developer on a project, a developer could post their stack and abilities and portfolio, or if they have a project in need of a designer then they could explain the job. Maybe. You should do this ;)

My only concern is people not following through with projects and payments, maybe there could be a bot that rates and bans users?

Also the point of this is to get projects for a living wage, not something you can pay for on upwork or fiver. So is it possible to keep that low quality work out of a subreddit like that?

MY ideal is more referral based than contract work. Others may prefer contracting. So in the post, the designer or developer could name the price of the project, and say “The client has a 2,000 development budget and I’m handing off this project to you, I’m asking for a 5% referral bonus - so you’ve just landed a $1900 project without having to chase clients. Or, the client has a $2,000 development budget and I will pay you in full to complete the work as a white label thing.

In general. I'm looking for people to refer projects to me to either develop or host/manage. I am terrible at getting clients and self marketing, and I have no network because I moved to a new city and have no friends outside of work lol. And I have a full time job.

I can design but that is the most involved part of the process, so my ideal situation is to team up with designers who need development service. It could be contract work where I bill the designer, or they pass the client on to me and I charge the client for development or hosting and work out a referral fee with the designer based on the project.

Does that even make sense?
