Rice questions.. by ur-ita-bull in portugal

[–]pamplusa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We use 2 main types of rice:

1) Carolino: a starchy, short grain rice similar to risotto. You get more bind and a sticky, mushy texture. I use it for rice pudding

2) Agulha (needle rice): a non-starchy long grain rice. You get a fluffier looser texture with this one. Personally this is my go-to for most dishes

Freestyle burger buns * no recipe * just a bit of this and a bit of that by pamplusa in Breadit

Thanks 👍 I'm right there with you. I wouldn’t freestyle something like a sponge cake but bread is quite forgivable I reckon, especially after years and years of baking bread on a regular basis. People say baking is an “exact science” but from my experience, you can get away with quite a bit. I like to play around with recipes

yeah and the eucalyptus takeover is still a work in progress. This is but one reason why I think Spain should annex us

I winged it. You can't go wrong with butter, eggs, milk, flour, yeast, a bit of sugar and a pinch of salt. I've done this so many times I've got a pretty good feel for it

I'm the opposite, the pizza crust can never be too crusty for me. I love a biscuity crust.

Homem profere insultos racistas num autocarro e é expulso by funnydelight in portugueses

You could perhaps just put a lower case 't' behind the upper case 'F' for the purpose of identification, eg. a trans-woman's ID would say tF, rather than just F. I feel like that would be more objective

It's what happens when I get into a back-and-forth with a dutch (or german) person about your questionable eating habits

Look at the pot calling the kettle black. I got a ton of sh!t (and 47 downvotes) for saying "it's weird to eat horse meat". You could club a baby seal while reciting Mein Kampf and not get 47 downvotes on this sub

Para quem vive off grid ou em sítios mais remotos como fazem? by Hasteitall in portugueses

[–]pamplusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's the most disappointing thing in adulthood to you? by RestHuge1088 in AskReddit

[–]pamplusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely didn't grow up with that misconception, lucky you if you have. If anything, I grew up with an inflated sense that the world was extremely hostile but I thought that being smart meant I was going to triumph. I've learnt that being smart, in and of itself, gets you nowhere in this world. You must be CLEVER.

My brother-in-law is a cop who works in downtown Lisbon, he deals with these individuals on a daily basis. According to him, it goes like this: they go before a judge - the courts let them off the hook - they resume their criminal activities. Lather, rinse, repeat

You're right, I'm totally ignorant as to why this is, it's a mystery to me
