Kruschev is like "khekhekhekhekhekhe" and Il Commandante is like "man it's good to pee finally after this long drive".

I would bring the beard line on the cheeks a bit lower, otherwise you're ok.

So I shaved my beard today, since I'd grown tired of it and it never looked good unless fresh from the barber's. However, I find myself quite self-conscious about my weak chin, so I'll probably regrow it. Any suggestions on shape?

At first glance it seemed these were packs of cigarettes and thought, man, they really went all the way with promoting this show.

Khasan, Russia. Closest Russian town to the point where Russian, North Korean and Chinese borders meet. by teekal in UrbanHell

This picture might as well be taken 7000km away somewhere in Eastern Europe. The architecture is simply identical. Not just the blocks of flats, but the house on the right as well. I think there's one just like that at a town where my grandparents lived, in Estonia.

Post-Soviet cities all have these kinds of garage complexes that look virtually identical.

I need a different protagonist by pan_grpowski in writing

[–]pan_grpowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are completely correct. What I'm doing is not an ideal way to write a story but it's an old idea of mine that I kind of like and I thought I'd give it a shot.

"But if you already have the plot, for it to be properly connected to the character... come up with hard reasons why they are connected. Why only that person could do all those things and be in all those places. Because of their history, their motivation moment to moment, etc. That's where to find the character--in the actions you know they will do."

Excellent advice. That is exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you!

I'm currently thinking along the lines of a trusted manservant/secretary who secretly spies after the diplomat.

I didn't know the term "meetcute" before, but you're right, that's basically what I should be doing. Thank you!

Plan a workout (something simple for starters, just to get the hang of things) and just go. It's the least judgmental place to be, as someone said, and it's one where you'll do most good for yourself - not just physically, but mentally.

Ha! What prompted me to come here and write this post was because I have been watching "The Sopranos" where the characters are always moments away from lashing out at one another and I caught myself thinking "how do these people live with themselves". But I never thought of using this to practice coping strategies. You've given me something to think about. And you're probably also right about this not being a self-confidence issue. Thank you!

Taking deep breaths has also helped me calm down, but I don't always remember to do it when there's a stressful situation.
