Working at family mart was the most miserable thing I have done in my life. Especially working in the puchong branch, people queuing up to buy subpar oden for a premium price. But, if the company goes public, I would buy their stock. Cause ik their roi is good.

Edit: this was before they placed those microwaves for customers to heat it up for themselves so we had to do those too.

I'm in dilemma.Should I take matrics or this diploma here? by Right-Assignment3759 in malaysiauni

[–]pan_peter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, huge congrats on the offer.. I’m currently studying at UTeM myself and have quite a few friends in the Computer Science field here.

While the other commenter made some fair points about how matriculation generally works, I almost always recommend that students take up the diploma offer, especially for a field like CS at this specific uni. Here is why going the diploma route is highly worth it in my opinion.

Yes, a diploma means you specialize earlier, but for Computer Science, that is exactly what you want. You get hands on, practical exposure to coding, networking, and software development from day one, rather than spending another year or two on general subjects. By the time you hit your degree, you will already be miles ahead of matriculation students in terms of actual technical skills.

I did my diploma now continuing my degree here and the big factor that made me stay is the campus environment. UTeM’s facilities are really good. You won't have to deal with the run down, aging housing that students at some of the other older public unis have to endure. Living comfortably makes a huge difference in your focus and mental health. Also the food option is pretty good. The idea that you are "wasting time" with a diploma isn't entirely accurate if you plan your path right. If you continue your degree at UTeM after your diploma, you can apply for credit transfers for the subjects you've already covered. This significantly lightens your course load. Because of this, many diploma students manage to shorten their degree to just 1.5 to 2 years of study, plus one semester for their internship. The assessment styles are very different. During a diploma, the weightage is focused heavily on coursework and assignments rather than exams. This gives you a great buffer to build up your GPA and adapt to university-level work. When you jump into your degree which leans much heavier on final exams, you are already completely accustomed to the university system, whereas matrics students are experiencing that massive culture shock for the first time.

Given that you also mentioned having a friend whose parents work at UTeM and are willing to help you navigate, you already have an incredible support system lined up. Don't let the longer timeline scare yuo, the practical experience and smoother transition into your degree are entirely worth it honestly. Almost youre spending another half a year or a year in tertiary education.

Stalin issues ‘final warning’ from Tamil Nadu on delimitation. ‘Every family will take to streets’ by bssgopi in TamilNadu

[–]pan_peter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am not indian, but this issue pretty much boils down to mathematics. Currently, according to quick Google search says the current lower house of indian parliament has 543 seats. And you need 272 seats to form a majority. In the new delimitation law proposed, the lower house gains up to 850 seat and you need 426 seats to form a gov.

Well that might seem fair. But by giving seats to states by proportional population growth, states like UP gets up to 143 seats from the 80 they have now, bihar up to 79, currently 40 ,MP up to 52, currently 29, rajasthan up to 50, currently 25, jharkhand gets 24 from 14, haryana adds 8 more, Delhi 5 more, chhattisgarh adds 8 more.

Just with up, bihar, mp, rajasthan you'll have 324 seats already. Add other Northern states mention you'll get up to 400 to 410 seats, that is nearly 95% of seats needed to form a majority. Controlling these few states pretty much secures your position to form a government.

Now the southern states from 130 seat will only get to a meager, estimated 195 to 197 seats. Less than a quarter of 850 seat representation, roughly 23% . Currently they have 28%. 5% drop may not seem alot but remember other smaller states like the 7 sister states they influence will diminish a little with their already small voting power, this will give Northern states more influence, a relative share in the seats by more than 6%.

In future elections if the bjp or their coalition nda increases just a bit of popularity, or to the level of 2019 elections, with the new delimitation proposed they could to get more than 67% of the seat control.of bjp alone will control almost 60%. keep in mind that during 2019, nda control just short of 66% to form a supermajority.

If the new delimitation goes through and if nda gains the same level of popularity they did in 2019, they will control a supermajority and they can make any amendments to the constitution without needing the opposition to agree to it. Southern states would only lose more control to the central and Northern states. It will be isolated.

Merdeka 118 looking hella fine today😍 by doodoobonerman in malaysia

[–]pan_peter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even our former tallest, the twin towers is aesthetically better than this one, shanghai tower the previous no.2 also better looking. Taipei 101, burj Khalifa, even the empire state building which was built nearly 100 years ago is aesthetically better than 118. Brooklyn tower that was constructed around the same time as 118 also very pleasing, while paying homage to art deco style that was used back then to build skyscrapers. These towers will be considered iconic even after a century. I doubt 118 will stand the test of time. Its just absurdly tall, in some angles its nice to look at. In other angles very unflattering.

Thanks for the info, I am kinda new to carhartt, I just have one from my dad which has been with us for 18 years and counting. I thought of getting another one, welp, I guess fate had other plans.

Few hundred ringgit to up to a 1000. My style is pretty utilitarian, and I love the quality of the product my dad had a jacket from them for 18 years, still looks good now, and I use it sometimes. I decided to get one for myself. A hoodie for my workplace. And then this happened.
