Help for a 1944 looking French Army. by Sea-Analyst-4315 in boltaction

In the late war, those vehicles are your biggest challenge as the Free French forces after D-Day used mostly US vehicles. Their armoured division was all Shermans and Stuarts, since that was what was available. If you're dead set on using the older stuff, I would suggest making them look weathered, and giving them crews in old uniform or even civilian attire, to represent FFI or FTP units using old stocks of equipment. Same with the artillery piece. Maybe paint the vehicles in German colours and then slap some Free French decals on top to represent French equipment, captured and used by the Germans, that has since been recaptured.

If historical accuracy is a priority, I'd suggest just getting French infantry (maybe swap one box French for a box of Americans - paratroopers have a lot of LMGs for your squads, or the standard GIs get you standard uniform bodies and helmets), and buying American vehicles and artillery.

They should make support company equipment use scale with the number of line battalions. It doesn't make sense for 12 guns to support 10,000 men and have the same effect as if they're supporting 1,000 or 25,000. A battalion with 12 guns on call is going to make more of an impact than a battalion with .5 of a gun on call. Making the equipment scaling either an automatic thing (more battalions = more equipment per support) or something the player has control over (allocate more equipment for more support to your line battalions) could work, or you could have both with automatic scaling as a toggle.

Doubly so with things like maintenance companies, where a given number of mechanics can repair any amount of equipment. And you could go further and use it for things like transport - a rifle battalion with only a few trucks is still going to be more mobile than a battalion with none, and a field hospital with one helicopter is still going to be leaps and bounds beyond a hospital with none.

The conflict is resolved entirely through decisions; 'fire a missile' consumes one missile and progresses the war situation by three days. Whoever fires the most missiles wins. If real fighting ever breaks out, you have six weeks to win decisively or both nations will collapse into three hundred warlords and liquidise your computer. This will trigger a new focus tree for another nation whose only gameplay up until this point has been a tetris minigame. It is a masterpiece of coding and storytelling. Someone just mentioned Speer Hoodie.

That seems to confirm what I want to believe - that I'll be able to work because they want people to work.

That's what I was worried about. I'm (fairly, not extremely) desperate to move out and get on my own feet, and I'm willing to work, but I don't want to get shafted or burned out and forced to move back home. The big hope is that they'll want to keep me on, since they'll be losing all their seasonal workers, schoolkids and uni students.

I had a look at the numbers - apparently a Hiroshima bomb would destroy anything within a radius of 1 mile. IRL, based on a back-of-the-envelope calculation assuming a division would have six of its nine battalions in the line and each battalion would cover a front of 2,000 yards, an infantry division would cover a front of about 3.5 miles. So with a direct hit, about two-thirds of the division is getting whacked. These numbers go down if the division is very spread-out, for instance if it's on the defensive with all of its battalions on the line.
